Birthday offers at Swan and Dolphin Resorts

Guests who book a three-night or longer stay at the Swan or Dolphin during their birthday will receive a free night. Also, guests who dine at one of the resort’s signature restaurants — including Todd English’s bluezoo, Shula’s Steak House and Il Mulino New York Trattoria — will receive a complimentary cake prepared by the resort’s executive pastry chef, Laurent Branlard.

Elephant Dies

An elephant called Tumpe died at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on Tuesday after a brief illness. She was a 24 year old African elephant who had been at the park since 2007.

Magic Kingdom Hours Extended

Magic Kingdom park hours have been extended, and it will now only close at 11pm on March 19, 10pm on March 20, and 12 midnight on March 21+ 22.

Bye Bye McDonald’s

McDonald’s items continue to be removed from counter service menus around WDW. Latest to be removed after refurbishment are Refreshment Port at Epcot (due to reopen April 5) and the Village Fry Shoppe at Magic Kingdom (due to reopen March 26).

Spoodles to be replaced

As reported in our news section yesterday, Spoodles at the BoardWalk is to be replaced by a new restaurant this fall. Kouzzina by Cat Cora will feature a menu of Mediterranean-style cuisine.

Characters to return to Liberty Tree Tavern

Jim Hill reports that characters are to return to Liberty Tree Tavern dinners. Although not officially announced yet, expect the character dinner to be up and running again by Easter week.

See Remy at Les Chefs de France

Guests dining at Epcot’s Les Chefs de France can now get a glimpse of Remy from Disney’s “Ratatouille.” The mini “Living Character” animatronic can be seen at the restaurant through September 5.

Bibbidi-Bobbidi Boutique

The new Bibbidi-Bobbidi Boutique in Sleeping Beauty Castle is set to open April 17 and is now taking reservations. Full details and pricing can be found here.
