You’d be forgiven for giving it little more than a second glance as you inch the hire car ever closer to the decorative parking lot booths of the Magic Kingdom, the excitement of being just a short tram and ferry/monorail ride away from skipping down Main St dominating your thoughts. Fastpass Test

Animal Kingdom have been testing out a centralized Fastpass distribution system. Fastpasses for Dinosaur, Expedition Everest and Kilimanjaro Safari were all available at the old “it’s tough to be a bug” Fastpass station. The usual Fastpass rules of one Fastpass at a time still applied, and Fastpasses were still available at the individual attractions.

Fantasyland Expansion?

A very interesting article on The Disney Blog talks about leaked expansion plans for Fantasyland. The expansion would see most of Toontown Fair replaced, and would include an expanded Pixie Hollow along with new meet & greet areas for Cinderella and the other princesses. A new “Be Our Guest” restaurant, plus increasing the capacity on a relocated Dumbo ride are also on the cards. Read more & see the blueprint here.

Heading out of Cosmic Rays’ I had butterflies in my stomach, despite a very satisfying burger.  About 20 minutes before Wishes, I was prepared – the plan all in place.  I was going to bite the bullet, head round to the wishing well and wait for the fireworks.  Then ’star light, star bright…’ I get down on one knee <cue loud sound of needle scraping across a record! then silence>.  The entrance to the path was roped off, there was a very friendly looking cast member standing in my way.  I hadn’t anticipated this, nowhere in my research had anyone said forget the wishing well during Wishes, it is roped off!!  So we paused on the bridge, “this’ll be a good place” I said, “it won’t be busy”.  My carefully orchestrated plan had come to a stunning halt.  I thought about trying to sneak through the rope, but it didn’t seem likely – or maybe get the cast member on side, but that might be too obvious.  Ok, I thought – it is only Tuesday, loads of time left to come up with another plan.  But I was psyched up and it had all gone perfectly…

I was four-years-old the first time I stepped onto Main Street U.S.A in Disney World.  A vendor was holding what looked like hundreds of mylar Mickey Mouse balloons, Cinderella’s Castle made me realize that my love for fairy tales was in fact a reality, (something even today, I still can’t help but still believe in,) and Snow White came out of nowhere and gave me a giant, wonderful, made my four years on Earth complete, hug.

New Pocahontas storytelling and character meet & greet changes

Camp Minnie-Mickey is home to the new “Good Times Gathering Spot” for the summer. Guests can meet Chip & Dale, Meeko, Koda and Kenai, plus attend a storytelling with Pocahontas. There will also be a DJ playing kid’s music, along with fun, games and dancing. The area will be open 10am-3pm daily through August 8, 2009.
