Robert Iger, the President of Disney, first launched D23 on March 10, 2009 in California. It is the first official community for Disney fans, a fantastic opportunity for the enthusiastic fans of Disney to come together, talk about their favorite things and learn even more about the exciting adventures that Disney is going on. The first D23 Expo will take place on September 10 through the 13th of 2009. The Expo will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. With almost every section of the Disney Company being represented, it will indeed be the single largest gathering of all things Disney.
For the first time fans can experience the historic event in the honoring of selected men and women into Disney’s prestigious Disney Legends, which is a highly exclusive and respective Disney group. Included in the Expo will be the viewing of some of Disney’s most famous artifacts including clothing, movies, props, etc. from the famous archives.
Ticket holders can spend the day with the cast of Wizards of Waverly Place (Selena Gomez, Jennifer Stone, David Henrie, Jake T. Austin, David DeLuise, and Maria Canals Barrera.) David Henrie even posted on his twitter (david_henrie) about the cast attending the very first Expo, and how he wants everyone to come out and see them. This would be a great event to take children to as well.
Sit back and relax while enjoying three of Disney’s classic films, all which are turning fifty this year. Those three films are: Darby O’Gill and the Little People, Sleeping Beauty and The Shaggy Dog. There will also be time to hear speakers where viewers can learn all about new and exciting events that will be coming for Disney.
For those who are D23 members, three D23 magazine issues have been released with the last issue being the Fall 2009 issue, with the Haunted Mansion featured on the cover. These magazines are not only full of fun information but the photographs are amazing, and each article is both interesting, captivating and ones that you will read over and over again (you will go to your friends and say, “did you know THIS was at Disney?” You will be full of lots of Disney knowledge.)
