Summer Nightastic Events

New events have been added to the Summer Nightastic line-up. A nightly street party will be held in the Magic Kingdom, and a Rock ‘n’ Glow Dance Party will be held in the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster courtyard at the Studios. Summer Nightastic runs from June 6 through August 14.

Park hours

Hours for certain dates in March and April have been extended, and extra Spectromagic and Fantasmic! performances added. September park hours are also now available.

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Dates

Dates for September have been released -
September 3, 8, 14, 17, 21, 24, 28, 30.
We’ll post October dates as soon as we have them.

‘Give a Day, Get a Disney Day’ Reaches Goal

The program which offered free entry to guests who volunteered in their communities has reached it’s goal of 1 million volunteers, and has therefore now closed. The news won’t make much difference to those outside of the US who weren’t permitted to participate in this year’s program. Whilst it was a good way of getting people to do voluntary work, we can only hope that Disney will come up with something that everyone can enjoy and take part in for next year’s “celebration.” Read the full press release here.

Disney Dream Funnel Nearing Completion

The funnel for the Disney Dream cruise ship is in the final stages of construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, where the iconic piece is being painted before it is permanently mounted to Disney’s newest ship. The finishing paint coats will be applied, transforming the piece from its current unadorned state, into the traditional red and black colored smokestack that has become the icon for all Disney ships.

UP wins 2 Oscars

Congratulations to Pete Docter and his team who won the Academy Award for best Animated Feature Film for UP, and to Michael Giacchino who won the best Music (Original Score) Academy Award for the UP soundtrack.

The next D23 Expo has been officially confirmed. As we reported previously, there will be no Expo this year, with next year’s being held August 19 – 21, 2011 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
