Disney Wedding Cakes

A cake is one of the most important elements of a wedding, and a wedding at Disney World is no exception!

Couples getting married at Disney World have the advantage of having some of the best pastry chefs at their disposal. If you can dream it, the chefs at Disney can probably make it!

Whilst Disney’s Fairytale Weddings have a standard catalog of cakes, many couples choose to customize their cake in some way, or design a completely new one from scratch. It could be something simple, such as changing the color of the icing or floral, or adding custom lettering. Or designing a whole new cake based on the theme of their wedding, or an idea they have. The Disney chefs are fantastic and can work with couples to create the cake of their dreams!

A popular choice for wedding cakes is the Cinderella Castle cake topper, which can be placed on many different styles of cake. What you might not realise is that it’s actually made entirely out of white chocolate! We kept ours in a display cabinet, where it lived happily without melting for almost four years, before we threw it out when we moved house. The topper alone isn’t cheap and will set you back $100 for a small one, and $200 for the large version.

Cake prices depend on several factors, including design, number of layers, and how many guests it needs to feed. They are priced per slice rather than per cake.

This “Small Happily Ever After” cake feeds 50 guests, and cost $12.50 pp, plus $100 for the castle topper, plus tax, gratuity and handling fee.

Once the actual cake design is decided upon, it’s time to choose the cake type and filling. This is the fun bit! Brides and grooms who visit Disney World for a planning session get to have a cake tasting session too. Several types of cake and fillings are presented for them to taste. As a past Disney bride who’s had a cake tasting session, let me tell you, it’s not an easy choice when presented with so many yummy flavors!

Tiffani Wenig’s cake (below) had a top layer of chocolate cake with peanut butter mousse, the middle was marble cake with chocolate mousse and fresh raspberries, and the bottom was  almond cake with amaretto filling.  The design was inspired by a couple of cakes she had seen, some on Martha Stewart’s website but mainly from the chef’s at the Grand Floridian.

Of course, couples can also get married on Disney Cruise Line, as Jillian Davis did. Here’s her delicious looking cake-
