Stitch dance party returns

The “Club 626 Character Dance Party” has returned to the Rockettower Plaza Stage in Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland for the spring period. It will run daily from 4-10pm.

Peter Pan Queue Change

The queue area for Peter Pan is to be extended, using the space currently occupied by the restrooms next to the attraction. Restrooms will be built in the former Skyway station area to replace the ones that are being removed.

ESPN dates

The dates for next year’s ESPN Weekend have been announced – March 2 – 4, 2012.

Ridermakerz to close

In a press release announcing that it had won “Pop-Up Store of the Year,” an award presented by Chain Store Age magazine, Ridermakerz said that its Downtown Disney store “will remain open through April 30, 2011.” While it’s not been officially announced what will happen to Ridermakerz, rumor has it that it will be moving over to Marketplace. It’s not know what, if anything, will take it’s place at the former Virgin Megastore building.

Grad Nites to end

This year’s Grad Nites events will be the final ones to be held at Walt Disney World. The high school graduation celebrations, currently hosted at Magic Kingdom, have been held at WDW for many years, but in order to be able to schedule more special events in April and May, Disney have announced 2011 will be the last year for them. Grad Nites at Disneyland California will continue as usual.

Tarzan Encounter returns

The popular Tarzan Encounter show is to make a much-awaited return to Disneyland Park’s Chaparral Theater beginning June 11, where it will run through September 4.

Lightning McQueen to join Moteurs… Action! Stunt Show Spectacular®

Cars and upcoming Cars 2 star Lightning McQueen is to begin appearing in the Moteurs… Action! Stunt Show Spectacular® at Walt Disney Studios Park this April.

Mother’s Day Royal Buffet

Guests can now book to attend a Mother’s Day Royal Buffet in the Grand Ballroom at Disneyland Hotel. Reservation times start at 10am and run through 2:45pm, on Sunday May 8. Call 714 781 DINE (3463) to make reservations. Disney Princesses will be in attendance and guests can enjoy live music while they dine from an extensive buffet.
Cost is $71.99 + tax per adult, and $20.99 + tax per child (3-9).

UP house recreated

If, after watching Disney*Pixar’s UP, you wondered if it was actually possible for a house to fly using balloon power, it really is! Well, kind of…

Engineers for National Geographic Channel’s “How Hard Can it Be?” program constructed a basic 16x16ft house, attached 300 helium weather balloons to it, and floated it over the Mojave desert.It reached an altitude of 10,000 feet and stayed in the air for about an hour.

Watch how they did it when the new series premieres in the fall. Meanwhile, here’s a sneak preview-
