We had a few days at the Magic Kingdom on our trip a couple of weeks back, and our 3-year old daughter was eager to meet Rapunzel. The first day we went the line looked way too long, so on our next scheduled visit we planned to arrive as early as we could and head there first.
The Tangled meet and greet in Magic Kingdom’s Fairytale Garden (near the Fantasyland side of Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe) was scheduled for a 9:15am start that morning, with the park opening at 8am.
By the time we’d got into the park, headed through Fantasyland (where I left DH with the kids waiting to ride Dumbo) it was around 8:40am when I got to the Fairytale Garden. There were already quite a few people in line. A Cast Member began walking along counting guests, and frustratingly we were the second family to miss out on the 9:15am meet.
Apparently they only let in 60-70 people per play & greet, which are scheduled an hour apart. So the next one for us was 10:15am.
The Cast Member advised us to leave one adult in line while the other took the kids off to do 2-3 rides in Fantasyland. But warned us to all be back there in line for 9:55am when they start letting into the Garden. If you’re not there then, they’re not supposed to let you in.
So that’s what we did! Time passed quite quickly, with the line behind us growing ever longer. The CM said that later in the day the line can get over 2 1/2 hours long.
Soon after 9:55am we were allowed the garden, where all of the children were invited to stand around the stone table. The table features the sun motif from Disney’s Tangled movie, and coloring pages were laid out for each child, along with a small box of crayons. A PhotoPass photographer walked around the table taking photos of each child coloring.
After a short time a Cast Member gave the kids a lesson in how to use a frying pan (and not for cooking!) and did some dancing & bouncing.
Then Rapunzel and Flynn come out to play hide and seek, followed by dancing around the table to the song from the movie.
Next it’s time for the actual meet and greet, up on the stage. A PhotoPass photographer will take your photo if you wish.
Sadly, our eldest daughter had bumped her head on the table and was no longer in the mood for meeting Rapunzel – typical! However, I made the most of the opportunity to meet Flynn
Here’s our video of the experience:
If this is on your must-do list I’d strongly recommend getting there for park opening and heading over there straight away so you’re one of the first in line.
