We’ve had breakfast here before and I’d been wanting to return ever since. We were on the free dining plan and as we had one table service credit to spare I went ahead and booked an ADR for 8:35am. It was only a month or two beforehand and I had no problems getting the time I wanted.
We arrived a few minutes early and were given a pager, so went to have a browse in the shop. It was after 9am when we got seated, by which time the kids were antsy and we were all starving.
We’d had lunch here the day before and were seated on exactly the same table, but with a different server. She took our drinks order of pineapple juice, grapefruit juice, hot tea and coffee, which were soon brought to us.
As soon as I booked the breakfast I knew what I’d be ordering – the famous Tonga Toast!
Banana stuffed sourdough bread, rolled in cinnamon sugar and served with strawberry compote and your choice of ham, bacon, or sausage
I requested fruit instead of bacon or sausage, and got a small bowl of melon and grapes. It was nice and refreshing compared to the heaviness of the Tonga Toast.
The toast is absolutely delicious, but very filling and one portion could easily feed two people, although it was a struggle I did manage to finish it all!
Accompaniments (maple syrup, strawberry sauce and butter) were served separately.
DH had the Big Kahuna:
French toast, macadamia-pineapple pancakes, eggs, home fried potatoes, ham, bacon, and sausage
He managed to polish it all off and particularly enjoyed the macadamia-pineapple pancakes.
DD had the Mickey pancakes, which were three pancakes put together in the shape of Mickey’s head, served with a fruit cup. They were nice and light and fluffy, and she begrudgingly shared them with her little sister. Both girls had chocolate milk, one was included with the kid’s meal and we weren’t charged for the other.
Service was good and I love the nice relaxed atmosphere here, plus the delicious food is a bonus, so it’s definitely somewhere I’d return to.
If we’d have been paying it would have cost $38.13 plus tax.
