Captain’s Grille is located at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, and was previously named the Yacht Club Galley.

The table service restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere, with a subtle nautical theme throughout – note the light fittings and porthole windows.

It was the first time we’d dined here and we arrived shortly before our 5:30pm ADR time and were soon seated on a table at the side of the restaurant.

Our server was quick and attentive and brought us a basket of bread to share whilst we waited for our meals.

This was the first table service restaurant we’d dined in that trip, and after a quick browse of the drinks menu I just had to try this cocktail-

Key Lime Coconut Martini
Midori melon liqueur, stoli vanil vodka, pina colada mix, pineapple juice and freshly squeezed lime juice with a crushed graham cracker rim

It was as delicious as it sounds!

We were on the free dining plan which normally only includes an entree and dessert, but our server informed us that we could get the set menu here as part of the dining plan, which also included an appetizer.

Both DH and I chose this-

Green Goddess Salad
Romaine with house-made green goddess dressing, and croutons

I opted for balsamic dressing instead of the green goddess dressing. We both agreed that it was too much of one type of lettuce, and got boring after a few mouthfuls.

For entree, DH chose-

Grilled Rosemary Pork Chop
with creamy bacon polenta, roasted mushroom ragout and balsamic jam

It was cooked perfectly and he really enjoyed it.

I had -

Pan-roasted Chicken Breast
with butternut squash Pearl Pasta, sage brown butter vinaigrette and dried fruit chutney

But requested fries rather than the pasta. They were nice chunky fries rather than the skinny ones you get elsewhere.

For DD we ordered this but without the turkey or mozzarella -

Meaty Macaroni
ground turkey with marinara sauce, topped with mozzarella, served with veggies and fruit salad

Sadly our attempts to get her to eat anything apart from chicken nuggets and fries failed and she didn’t eat much!

My favorite dessert is key lime pie which I’m happy to say was on the menu here, and that’s what DH & I both had. It wasn’t your typical slice of key lime pie, but was absolutely spot on and probably the best key lime pie I’ve had outside of Key West.

DD had the kids’ Fruit, marshmallow and brownie kabob.

We couldn’t fault anything about the service or food that evening and would definitely return. If we’d have been paying out of pocket, the set menu would have cost $27.99 each (+ tax).
