Cabanas is the self-service buffet restaurant on Deck 11 (aft) of the Disney Dream, and probably one of the first places you’ll visit on embarkation day. The Welcome Aboard buffet is served here as well as at Enchanted Garden. A buffet breakfast and lunch are served here daily, and dinner is table service, with a selection of items from the main restaurants.

You can enter Cabanas through either of two side entrances from the pool deck, or via the entrances in the center from the Aft elevators. As soon as you enter you’ll be given hand-sanitizing wipes (as in all on-board eateries) and be guided to a table.

There are both indoor and outdoor seating areas and you can request to sit in any part of the restaurant, subject to available tables.

The buffet lines in each half of the restaurant are the same, with one station in the center that serves both sides, and usually features the likes of seafood & salads at lunch, and cereals at breakfast. Each station features different menu items which change daily for lunch. It’s a case of serve yourself, apart from the carving station where a chef will be on hand to serve. You can visit any or all of the stations and revisit as many times as you wish, but be sure to leave room for some of the delectable desserts on offer!

Of course you’ll need a drink with your meal, and there are beverage stations on each side of the restaurant, with both hot and cold drinks on offer. If you don’t see what you’d like, such as low-fat milk or chocolate milk, just ask one of the servers who will be able to get it for you.

Many guests probably don’t notice some of the wonderful decorations throughout the restaurant, and the incredible detail the Imagineers have put in here. For example, the “sand” castles that show the castle from each of the Disney Parks around the world.

These nautical clocks show the times of the various Disney Parks around the world, from Tokyo to Florida.

This wonderful tile mosaic is where the two halves of the restaurant meet, and is inspired by the Disney∙Pixar film “Finding Nemo.” It’s nearly 30 feet long and more than eight feet tall, with every piece handcrafted by a team of Italian artisans in collaboration with Pixar. The mosaic re-creates the big blue world of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef with approximately 200 colors of Venetian enamel. The glass pieces were broken into irregular fragments by hand with a small hammer and vice and then carefully affixed piece by piece with putty. See if you can spot some familiar faces, including Nemo, Marlin, Dory, Bruce, Crush, and Squirt.

Imagineers have included lots of other whimsical details in the beach-themed dining room, tables are sheltered under palm trees and beach umbrellas. Surf boards, sun umbrellas, kites, teak Adirondack chairs and clam shell table tops add to the sunny seaside décor.

Although there are lots of other dining opportunities available onboard, we’d highly recommend visiting Cabanas at least once during your cruise. There’s always a great choice of food available, with something for everyone, especially at breakfast. Check out some of the sample menus which include lots of food photos.
