About one hour before sailing, everyone onboard the ship must participate in a compulsory safety drill before departure to comply with Coast Guard and international safety regulations. It lets you know what to do and where to go in case of emergency.
Every single passenger onboard is required to attend. Anyone who doesn't attend will receive communication from the Captain.
The drill typically takes place at 4:00pm on embarkation day. Put on your lifejacket ready, you'll find them on the top shelf in the closet. If you need extra ones, or a baby lifejacket, just ask your stateroom host / hostess. Listen out for the announcement over the ship's loudspeakers, which will also be played in your room. Make your way to the assembly point on deck 4 - shown on the notice on the back of your stateroom door, and also noted on your lifejacket.
Once at the assembly point, one of the crew members will take note of your room number which is printed on your lifejacket. They will also do a roll call, and make sure that every single person out of every room has attended. You will be asked to line up while everyone is accounted for, and then told when you're free to go.
Once the drill is completed, it's time to set sail!
