Juneau

Juneau is the capital city of Alaska, located on the Gastineau Channel in the panhandle of the state. It's the only state capital that's only accessible via air or ship. Juneau's area is almost twice the size of Rhode Island and Delaware combined. Downtown Juneau is nestled at the base of Mount Juneau and across the channel from Douglas Island.
On top of the mountains is the Juneau Icefield, a large ice mass from which about 30 glaciers flow; two of these, the Mendenhall Glacier and the Lemon Creek Glacier, are visible from the local road system.
Guests can take the Mount Roberts Tramway to an observation deck that is approximately 2,000 feet about Juneau, providing fantastic views above the city. Activities that visitors can enjoy include whale watching, kayaking, hiking, fishing, and of course shopping!
