"it's a small world"

Sing along, you know the words!

"it's a small world after all, it's a small world after all..."

Take a voyage around the world on this boat ride that takes you on a visit to different continents where you'll see over 300 audio-animatronic doll figures dressed in national costume. The dolls in each of the rooms sing the title song in various languages.

Guests start off in the "Hello room," then travel to the Scandinavia room where the song is sung in Swedish. Next it's onto Europe, with singing in English, then it's through to Asia, with the song in Japanese, Africa with English singing, South America with the song in Spanish. In the South Seas room, the song is firstly sung by mermaids underwater, then in the Polynesian style. New Guinea sees the song's rhythm being beaten on drums. Ending with the finale room, with everything in white, and the song in English.

The attraction was designed by Mary Blair. The building's outer facade is in the style of Mary Blair, with stylized versions of international landmarks including the Eiffel Tower and Leaning Tower of Pisa.

In February 2009, the attraction reopened after a lengthy rehab, and now features some of the child dolls dressed as favorite Disney characters, in the countries where their stories take place. For example, dolls dressed in Aladdin and Jasmine costumes play in the Middle East scene, and a doll dressed as Alice from “Alice in Wonderland” appears in the Great Britain scene.

Tips & Fun Facts

On the quarter hour, wooden dolls representing different cultures parade out of the giant clock on the attraction's facade. Once all of the dolls are out, the doors open to reveal two large toy blocks, one showing the hour, the other the minutes. The bell then tolls to signal the time.
Look out for the 29 Disney and Disney•Pixar characters now represented in the attraction. Some appear as child dolls and some are playful-looking toys, such as the White Rabbit who accompanies Alice. Search for Woody and Jessie in the “Spirit of America,” a Mushu dragon kite in China, “The Three Caballeros” marionettes for Latin America, and others.

A hidden Mickey is formed by the three round ride operator towers.

During the holidays, the attraction receives an overlay and runs a special holiday version of the cruise set to the music of classic carols.
Originally created for the 1964 New York World's Fair.
The theme song was written by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman, Oscar® winners for Mary Poppins (1964).
