View Full Version : Not such good news from WDW

Two different reports on this evening's news.

A 44 year old man died during the last 50 seconds of the Expedition Everest attraction. He was visiting WDW from Navarre, FL (the panhandle). Terrible thing.

Also, last week (although it was just on the news tonight) a woman was attacked at Pop Century. She was pushed to the ground, or pulled, by a man who then tried to take her room key. There were earlier reports (this was on twice tonight) that she may have been sexually assaulted, or raped, but there was no further mention of that in the later report.

Not such good news at any time of year, but particularly now. I feel so bad for the family of the 44 year old man. They were here for Christmas at Disney.

That's very sad about the man that died :(

Regarding the assault, it's very scary, you always think you're safe at Disney.

Yes, to both. We like to think that WDW can really be an escape from the real world, but honestly it isn't is it? :sigh: People die, crimes are committed.

Well. Enough doom and gloom, eh? Just a profound reminder to keep yourself alert at all times.

I read the man died of natural causes. Sad nonetheless though :sigh:

Yes, apparently he had a pre-existing heart condition. :(

I feel a lot safer when I'm staying at a resort that has a couple of levels of "hard to get to" added to it, like the Polynesian, Shades of Green, Fort Wilderness, etc.

I know the Pop has a security gate at the entrance, but it would also be possible to walk onto its grounds from outside Disney property, I think.

but anyone can park at MK and monorail to the Poly or take the launch to FW.

Yes, that is true. Gaining access to Disney resorts is not difficult at all.
