Hmmmmm...here comes the old fashioned me, in me. I'm not so sure having friends and family pay for a honeymoon is something I "approve" of. Sound like an old fusspot, don't I? LOL.

I know, I know, many folks would because it's an easy gift.

Some guests at our wedding bought us holiday vouchers which we used for a trip to Luxor. It wasn't for our Honeymoon though, we used them 6 months later. They were more than happy with the idea - it made gift buying easy for them, there was no pressure of a 'list' with expensive gifts and many commented on how it was a great idea as the memories would last a lifetime. :)

Most people don't mind helping the couple pay for a honeymoon, especially when the wedding has cost a fortune and the guests have quite happily sat chomping down a very expensive meal, champagne, wine etc. at the couple's expense. Weddings do not come cheap and unfortunately many couples start married life in debt. I'd be happier knowing the couple could spend some quality time together de-stressing after their big day than be heading straight back home to open presents they've probably already got! I see it more as giving them a good start to married life than 'the easy option'.

It depends on a couples circumstances I guess. If they live together and have a pretty well furnished home, an alternative such as this is a good idea. If they're just starting out together, then the traditional gift list is likely the preferred option. It would be interesting to hear from anyone who takes up this offer though :)

Yep, like I said many folks don't mind.

With regard to guests happily chomping down on a meal, well, they were invited. :) The Judith Manners training in me says that a guest should not be expected to pay for the honour of attending someone's wedding.

No matter. As I said, I'm hopelessly, and woefully old fashioned on some matters. Good that there are differences in opinion throughout the world, or this would be a pretty boring globe!

I think the registry is a great idea. Most people attending a wedding would want to buy a gift & if the bride & groom already live together this is a great way to help them pay for their honeymoon :)

LOLOLOL!! Paying to attend, if that was the case there'd be a cover charge, not an option to help the couple have a nice honeymoon.
