Great news, the best of both worlds in one trip! Can you book RCI cruises through Small World Jo?
Great news! Wonder if they'll move the Magic and Wonder to the West Coast?

Yes I can - thanks for asking

It would make sense because until the Panama Canal is made wider the newer larger ships cannot fit through it. Also if Disney ever decides to do an Alaska cruise the smaller ships are the ones they will use because the larger ships will not be able to fit in some areas and ports there
The other option would be to leave 3 ships in Florida and one on the west coast
With one of the ships doing different itineraries and two of them doing the regular Caribbean and Bahamas itineraries they currently have
And here is the Orlando Sentinal article

I wasn't sure if I could actually post the article here, would the newspapers allow it? I played it safe and just posted the link.

I thought you could, but wasn't sure. I'll definitely book through you next time, there are far too many restrictions booking from the UK, they've been really unhelpful with us.
I wonder when they will announce Freedom's itineraries from PC?
So how does RCI compare with DCL price-wise? Are they any less expensive?

Most times they are less expensive then DCL
To give you an idea I booked a 9nt cruise in November 2006 in a Grand Suite for the price of what a verandah room would have cost on DCL for a 7nt cruise. Of course summers and holiday sailings are always more expensive then other dates.
One thing with RCI is that their pools are salt water except for their new ships, Freedom, Liberty and Independence

Oh wow! You can book RCI! That's great to know. I've never cruised with that line. How does it compare with Disney for amenities, etc? I know it's less expensive, but several cruise lines are less expensive than Disney,eh?
Just wondered how the two compared?
Disney cruise to Alaska. Now that might be loads of fun! We've always wanted to do that cruise, just never have taken the time to really look into it. Our favorite ship with NCL makes that run, and we've always thought we'd do the cruise that way when the time came. If Disney had an option that would be great!
Tinkerbell - it really depends on the RCI ship - the newer ships, Freedom class, and the Radiance class have loads of amenities. I would stick with one of these as the others are older. The Radiance class ships are usually the ones that sail to Alaska.
If you have the travel channel try to catch the show called "Great Cruises:Radiance of the Seas" as it shows you a lot about the ship and its sailing to Alaska. I think the next showing of this is April 8th
If you do have that channel they also have a program on there with Samantha Brown on the Freedom of the Seas

I'm trying to find out when Freedom will move to PC. The UK RCI site is showing 26th April as it's last sailing from Miami, but nothing after that. Any idea when the summer itineraries will be announced Jo?

MY DH wants to book the inaugural when one of the new ships sail . We also want to go back and do the Western Carribean next year , but not Disney . We did the DCL WC in February and although it was wonderful . My camera was either left behind or stolen in Cozumel . All of our beautiful horseback riding pics from the Cayman Islands . :( So, we are definitely returning just so we can ride my namesake Stormy and DH can ride Moon Beam again and see Noland . We are thinking of either the Princess or RC .
Other good news is we are doing the 4 night DCL this coming August . We were going to horseback ride, but instead I am going to swim with the dolphins again . Then, its on to WDW .
Anyone else planning on the christening of the new upcoming ship ?
We'd love to do that! :bounce: We should probably get our names on a wait list now though, I expect it'll be extremely popular :hehe:
Will certainly keep a date open in 2011, just in case  Wonder what month of the year it’ll be
Perhaps if our little community here continues to grow we could make it an official Magicalkingdoms meet :hehe:
2011 also happens to be WDW's 40th too  Im pretty sure WDW itself will have something (or things) added as part of the milestone celebrations, so its definately a year to keep clear in your calendar.

All sailings for RCCL for 2009 have opened for bookings
I was reading that Carnival have a new ship soon to be operating out of Port Canaveral (next year i think) called the 'Dream'. Gonna be the biggest ship in their fleet apparently  Not sure i could prise myself away from DCL though :hehe:

 Carnival are supposed to be calling their next 2 ships 'Dream' and 'Magic'. Given the rumoured name for one of the new Disney ships is 'Dream', it could get very confusing! :hehe:
There are a few cruise companies that have the same names and it does get a little confusing
