View Full Version : WDW Grad Nights to Move Parks?
Over at Screamscape (http://www.screamscape.com/html/wdw_-_magic_kingdom.htm), its being reported that Grad Night celebrations which usually take place at the Magic Kingdom could be relocated to Disney's Hollywood Studio's for 2009. Its been rumoured that the long awaited Space Mountain rehab may be the reason behind the decision, seeing as it's often 'tweaked' specially for the occasion. Its unknown wether this could be a permanent move or just a one-off.

I hope it's a permanent move - the sound travels right across the lake to the hotels. There were several complaints when we were there in '07, plus the traffic around the MK hotels is a nightmare with all the coaches.
We were at the Poly in 2007 and I agree it was noisy at night. Hopefully they will enjoy it more and the move will become permanent
if the noise travels that far i reckon theres gonna be some unhappy peeps in the Epcot resort area during these nights, especially when you factor in the Tower of Terror  :hehe:

The noise was ridiculous, it carried right across the lagoon. It's all through the night and a few nights before the actual events they do the testing. We could hear the music blaring out at all hours. Those that complained were given a 50% refund on their room. It probably won't carry as much from DHS.
This had now been confirmed by Disney, and the announcement suggests it will likely be a permanent fixture at the Studios from now on.

I loved my Grad Nite at MK back in 1997 (geez, was it really that long ago!).... Guess kids will have to find another power nap location - for us it was the Hall of Presidents :D

Ha! Us too! My grad night was in 1991. Space Mountain broke down and took about 2 hours to get everyone out. I can't see grad night being as fun at Hollywood Studios.

Space Mountain was our first ride (we had a special package. We started at PI and then had a Tomorrowland party with snacks and soda before the rest of the schools were let in, so my school and the 2 others on the package had all of Tomorrowland done before Grad Nite officially began)
