I started reading Narnia to my kids 7 & 5, but we didn't get very far. The youngest got bored and the oldest is now into the Magic Treehouse books. So it got put down and never picked up again. I think Percy is worse then Harry, but I didn't even consider Harry's parents. oops forgot all about that part. Good luck.

The Kingdom Keepers books might have a few sections that are a little too instense for younger kids. I think it just depends on how they react to Disney villains dying in the movies. If they are fine there, they should be fine for the books.

anyone got any suggestions of books I can read to them?
I like reading a chapter a night because
1) it makes them excited for the next instalment
2) saves the arguments every night over what we should read

Well, if you read them Kingdom Keepers, there are plenty of short chapters, so you might want to read a few a night.
Hardy Boy books are always good as well as Nancy Drew. They are classic adventures and your kids might even start being detectives themselves...
