    I really want to go!

Have you seen the price of some of the tickets? The most expensive ones for the final day of the athletics are over £700!!! DH would like to watch the boxing (which I hate) but I want to see the athletics.

If we do go I think we'll need a pair of binoculars as we'll be in the cheap seats at the top of the stadium. DS will be due to get his GCSE results in August of 2012 so I've just tried to work out if we can get to the Olympics for a day and WDW and be back in time for results.

I really want to go, don't really care to what but I'd love to just be part of it. My dad works for one of the sponsors so he said I might be able to get tickets through him....no discounting but might be easier to get something

I've been colour coding my preferences today, it is amazing how many clashed :(

My biggest hope is a ticket to the final of the Mens Basketball, followed by a ticket to the Boxing finals on the 11th :fingers:
After that - my favourites would be athletics, swimming, cycling, tennis and football :)

I'm going to also put in for some tickets for random events like Table Tennis and archery - mainly because it won't bother me who I am watching in those events

Did anyone see that bargin £2,012 ticket for the opening ceremony. I was going to order some, but the limit on tickets is only 4 and I wouldn't know who to leave behind at that price

It's just something I was doing for myself, I printed out all 30+ pages and used highlighters to work out what I want to see.
    Red for Must See
    Blue for Like to See
Green for Only if not clashing with above

:hehe: I am a bit odd like that, I like to organise

I've had a good look this afternoon and would really like to go to some of the swimming and gymnastics too. DH wants to see the cycling so hopefully we'll get to see something although we both want to see some of the athletics.

Probably watch most of it on TV - the prices for the tickets are ridiculous!

DH and I went to the Olympics when they were in Atlanta. We were there the night BEFORE the bombing. Acutally at the venue that was bombed.

We saw USA vs. Italy baseball. Tickets were super-duper cheap. I know that when we went, ticket prices were based on popularity of the event. I.e., we wouldn't have dreamed of trying to go to a swimming, diving, etc. event. We just were happy to get to go and say we'd done it. The game was a shutout with USA winning. It was so fun just to get to be a part though :D.

There are plenty of cheap seats - even athletics has seats at £20
Football is all around the country and they also start at £20 for 2 matches!!!

I might even venture over to Wales to watch the Olympics as they have football on loads of dates.

    The words of LOCOG:

The application process will open on 15 March and run for six weeks. During that time, people will have the opportunity to make applications. If an event is oversubscribed, there will be a ballot; if not, people will get the tickets they want. Ninety per cent of the tickets will be below £100; two thirds will be below £50, and two and a half million will be £20 or less. There will be a pay-your-age scheme: if you are eight years of age, you will pay £8. Senior citizens will pay a maximum of £16.

I'm hoping to get tickets, I've registered and that.

I don't really mind what I go and see - obviously it would be nice to go and see the athletics finals, but prices will be high. I'd like to go and see some gymnastics as I think that's interesting to watch.

Does anyone know if there's a limit on the amount of events you can try for?

Gutted, even though I applied for loads of tickets - it appears I only have £312 worth of tickets.
My guess is that I have a group game of football or basketball and couple of cheap tickets for events like table tennis or the cycling road race

    :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

We applied for 2 sets of gymnastics and 1 of judo. Looks like we have two out of the three we've applied for, just not sure what yet....

Didn't get any of my first selection - hope to get online early on Friday and will try to get some tickets for the Handball as something that seems exciting to watch and not something I would ordinarily go to.
