Can someone tell me what the timescale is for banked points? What i mean is can points banked this year be carried over to subsequent years or is it as Jo believes, that they can only be banked once, to be used anytime within the following year?

    Does that make sense?

Jo is correct Jon, you can only bank points for one use year, then they must be used before the last day of the use year you banked them into or they are forfeited.

So...we banked our points last October. So long as we actually book a trip (up to 11 months in the future) before the banking date this coming October, we can still use them? i.e. we could book a trip as late as Sept 2013 using those points?

What's your use year. When did the points go onto your account?

I think it's October  That's when we had to bank by.

You have to use the banked points by the end of the use year you have banked them into not just book with them. Check your membership card or your online account for your use year then we can help you work out what your options are. There are 3 years worth of points shown in your online account to help you keep track and it shows your banking and borrowing transactions. :)

OK, it appears from the chart above that you banked 43 points from your March 11 use year into March 12. Does sound right Jo?

If that's the case then these 43 points must be used for a stay that ends on or before 28th Feb 2013. If you don't think you will take a trip by then PM me and I'll run through another option with you when we get home.

You might as well book a trip for Christmas/2012 .
I'm not even a Disney Vacation Club member but knew the answers as I did a lot of research when we were going to buy in .

As much as we'd love to Deb, even if we could afford the flights at that peak time, our points wouldn't go very far as it's peak usage time then. IF, and it's a big if, we do go before our use year is up it's going to have to be Jan/Feb when it's off-peak season.

I think I need to re-read the T&C’s again.
Can you borrow points from your following year’s allocation? We’ll have 193 points come March this year, could we supplement that with borrowed points from Mar 2013?

Yeah Jon, for a trip between 1st Mar 12 and 28th Feb 13 you could use the banked points, your Mar 12 use year points and borrow some from Mar 13 use year as well.

It’s looking likely that we won’t be able to use our banked points within the next year so would be interested to know what the options are.
I have read a little into it but it’s a bit of a grey area with regards selling/renting.

Basically your options are to rent or transfer the points in a private arrangement between you and someone else or offer the points for rental through an agency such as dvcrequest .com

The Timeshare Store (One of the board sponsors) may also be able to arrange a rental for you. I believe they charge the client $12.00 per point and you receive $8.00 a point.
