We are in the process of buying a 50 Point contract at the VGC! I just got a email from the Timeshare Store that the contract was sent to Disney for ROFR, that was fast! We made a full price offer as these small contracts go really fast so we are paying $97 a point.
I already want to add on :) but DH really is not into timeshares, he thinks they are a waste of money and he thinks that he will not want to go to Disney that often. So with a small contract we can go every 2 or 3 years or stay here at the VGC. DS8 and I will love this!

    Congratulations

It's a great feeling when your contract comes through.

Thanks Paula it make me feel better that you had a good experience with the Timeshare Store. They were up front with everything and they seem to be very fast at getting everything done. Of course now we get to wait for Disney :) but no worries the contract UY is Sept and we will get all 2012 and 2013 points but the owners must have a trip plan because they can't close until May 7th.

Congratulations on your purchase! At $97.00 per point, you should easily pass ROFR (but that 30 days sure does go by slo-o-o-owly). VGC is my favorite Disney Vacation Club property--you just can't beat the Paradise Pier view and your own park entrance. :)

    We passed!

We just got an E-mail that Disney has waived their right to purchase. :woohoo: Per the agreement with the owners we can't close until May 7th.

Congratulations. Some friends of ours have been debating this timeshare thing as well. They have gone down the last 5 years at an avg. cost of 7k per trip. They bought into it and purchased 250 pts. It will be cheaper in the long run.

We haven't even closed yet and we called Disney to put us on the wait list for another 100 points at the VGC. We really should have got more points to start with but I have been checking it out for a while and Doug hasn't so he did not want to buy to many points right off. Now that he has had time to check it all out he sees we need / want more points. Though if I just asked for 150 points to start with he would have just said no and never would have looked into it. That is men for you. :)

I have been talking to my DH about the possibility of getting a DVC membership. Can anyone who has one give me some more reasons I can put into his head that we should get this?

We've been members since 2005 and own at BWV and BLT. Can't say enough good about it, it's a great way of saving money on future stays at deluxe resorts.

We did 500 points at Bay Lake Tower in May of 2010. This lets us go twice a year in a studio for the two of us and every other year with the kids and grandkids for a two bedroom. We love it!

When we joined, there was a promotion of an extra 500 points. We financed our first Adventures By Disney, to the Grand Canyon, with points.

We own at AKL (although we've not used our points here yet ) and have so far stayed at the BWV and BCV. We joined two years ago and only wish we'd bought in sooner.
