Hoping to get to photo Wishes properly this trip :fingers:

Don't have a tripod (no way can manage to lug that around with the kids!), just a gorillapod, so need something to attach it to.

Couldn't really see anywhere on Main St, around Casey's. Occured to me that Main St station might be an option. Is there something there, like a railing, I can wrap it around? And is it close enough using my 17-85mm lens? And do people still stake that location out a long time in advance?

    :thanks:

MK has huge lockers - my tripod fit without an issue :)

I was going to suggest a locker. :D Don't know what a gorillapod is , but I have watched Wishes from Main Street Station . And there are railings, benches & tables with chairs ( at least there use to be ) make sure to get there a couple of hours beforehand as it fills up fast and then you may not get an area to set up . Don't know anything about lenses either , thats either of the 2 SM's or TT expertise .

Not just carrying it round the parks, it'd take up luggage space and have to get it to and from the parks too, so will have to keep with gorillapod for now

We have taken loads of photos from the station, and every year you seem to need to get there earlier and earlier.
You get a great view, and you could put your gorillapod on the railing. You could also use it nearer your feet (remember you are already up high). The trick will be having a pushchair, bags or something similar to avoid people running between you and your camera, the gap between the bench and the railing is bigger than you would think :camera::tink2:

Would most likely be on my own, leaving Jon & kids at hotel. How early is early?

You should also be able to possibly rig up on light posts down Main St.

Do you have a trigger release for this? If you do, that will help you be able to get higher up (i.e., above heads) because you won't have to be able to reach the shutter button.

    Yep, got shutter release
Had a scan around last time and could only find 1 lamppost just past Casey's that could have been suitable.

Didn't Hayley use her Gorillapod a lot on one of her last trips? She may have suggestions of places to grip from.

One thing though - you noted your lens mms. I would think you'll be fine with that length. You don't want to zoom too much because you'll end up cropping some of the bursts out.

Joanne .... There is another option . I could bring our tripod for you . Jim uses it for his camcorder which is the size of a camera . I'm sure yours will fit . Wishes is usually at 9 .

It's at 10pm while we're there. Thanks for the offer, is it not too much extra luggage for you?

Not at all ! Were only coming for a week and since there's 3 of us, I'm sure I can make room :hehe: Just want to check with Jim that ours goes up as far as TT's does . After I posted, I looked at the times and it is indeed 10 . :sorry: should have checked first .

I have taken my tripod & it fit in the lockers with no problem. It's a MUST as it is a big reason I was able to get this.
