On facebook today there has been a link from Universal about a horror house set up for the remake of THE THING.
I was wondering, is the Horror house there every Halloween or is it just cos of this new film. OR will it be there next year when we go at October?

There is some sort of horror house set up at Universal every Halloween. I believe it is called Hallow Screams and from what I understand it is/can be quite frightening.

Hello, well the Thing house is here because of the movie out on the 14th Octonber. Probably wont be there next year as Universal like to change the house's each year, though there was a Thing house 2 years ago that was quite poor.

Universal do about 8 houses each year and they are different themes, they also do scare zones - people walking around as Zombies, chainsaw gangs chasing you etc, if you look at www.halloweenhorrornights.com you can look back at the previous years. This year as it is the 21st year is supposed to be based on a Casino themes, so where the Thing fits in I can't quite work it our yet.

Howl O Scream (I think is what USC West means) is BG version, we actually find this better as there seems to be less people visiting it.

Thanks for the replies. We are going next October/November and so knew we'd catch the Disney Halloween (is it MNSSHP?) and maybe the start of the Xmas festivities, but never gave it a thought re Halloween at Universal, and we are going to be visiting universal quite early in the trip to catch Harry Potter. So something else to bear in mind now - thanks so much.

Not a problem, Halloween Horror nights tend to finsh around 31st Oct/1st Nov. It is worth visiting and we try and get there every year. if you only plan on doing one night, I would recommend getting purchasing the passes that get you entry to the houses, other wise queues can be up to 120 mins for each house
