Saturday August 20th
We were all wide awake at around 7am, so since we were at Tusker House for lunch we decided to go to Animal Kingdom for the day. We took the car and arrived at around 8.50am, which was brilliant as we were close enough to walk to the gate. This is always a bonus with the buggy as it means we can get the buggy ready whilst Ava stayed in the air conditioned car, and we don’t have to collapse it again to get on a tram or anything.
After a quick photopass pic
we went straight around to the safari. It was a lot of peoples first time on the ride, which was great as I always think the guides make more of an effort when that is the case. Since it was early we saw loads of animals.
We even saw some people on one of the backstage type tours
The giraffes had just been let out for the day, and it was so funny watching them run around. I’ve never seen a giraffe run before, it was hilarious!
Got some great views of the elephants.
A certain someone found the whole bumping around in a car far too relaxing though
After the safari we went round to Camp Minnie Mickey to do some character spotting. We got pulled aside by a CM who said Pocohontas and her friends were lonely, so we stopped by to see them first….none of the photos were that good though.
Round at Camp Minnie Mickey we had some of our best character interactions, as usual
Here are some of my favourite photos from the entire trip. Ben adores Chip and Dale, as you can see here, but the characters were just brilliant with him. Sorry, there’s quite a few, but they were all so lovely, I couldn’t choose which I liked best
We really love this character interaction spot. We’ve been here several times when the characters have been out of their trails, just milling around, including Mickey and Minnie. Just a perfect spot. Love it here!

Saturday August 20th Continued:
After we’d been to meet the characters, we went around to the Festival of the Lion King. We have the CD for this and Ben listens to it constantly! I don’t think he remembers seeing it first time round, but he was so excited to see it this time. We were in the giraffe section, which we had never been in before…..we did however have Ben well prepped though, just in case he got asked ‘that’ question
We were sitting in the row behind the disabled section, and when a family came to sit in the disabled section, they were questioned by a CM and moved along to the end as they were not supposed to be there. They thought they were going to have a fantastic view as they didn’t have anyone disabled sitting in front of them. However, just before the show started a family with a lot of tall members came and sat in the disabled section….with good reason to, meaning the family behind couldn’t see so well. I know it’s petty but I did have a little giggle to myself It annoys me so much when people sit in the disabled section when they shouldn’t….it’s not like it’s not obvious they’re not supposed to sit there……anyway!
Ava had a good flap at this show. I thought it might be a bit loud for her but she wasn’t bothered in the slightest, she thought it was wonderful!
We all enjoyed the Tumble Monkeys!
The man with the fire was superb, as always!
Ben was too shy to go and join in with the other children dancing around, although I think when we had left, he wished he had, ah well, maybe next time
Ava fell asleep, and we had out first experience of…..
Can’t believe we’d been here nearly a week, and hadn’t had one….although Ben wore most of his
After picking up a FP for Everest and the rapids, we headed over to the babycare centre.
This is another fantastic one. They have a massive room for nappy changing etc, off that there are four private rooms with the most comfortable nursing chairs I have ever sat in! There is a changing table in there as well, but the bins must be emptied after every person has been in as there was no nappy bin smell in there. There’s also a large room with tables and chairs, and also a TV with films on. We often stopped there after Ava had fed, just for a little chill out.
After wandering round some shops, and taking a few photos, we went over to Tusker House, where I met a CM from Peterborough, which is about an hour away from where we live, as they say ‘it’s a small world’
Lunch here was lovely, as always. I don’t like the idea of it becoming a character lunch as we really like it as it is, lovely and relaxed. The food was wonderful, with all the things we really like to eat at home. I particularly like the breads and different types of dip.
Ava enjoyed it too
However, she preferred to eat the table at times
No idea why she did this, but it’s become quite a habit since
After we were thoroughly stuffed Anthony went on Everest, not too sure it was a good idea right after lunch, but he didn’t seem to mind
You may have guessed what happened next from the photos…..yep, the heavens opened! As per usual it was over as quickly as it began so we went around to Nemo, using our pass from lunch to get into the reserved seating area.
Was a great show, I’d forgotten just how good it actually is
It had clearly been raining heavily since we’d been in there and the buggy was totally soaked, we’d stupidly left the rain cover in the car, duh! We wandered around some shops and bought Ben a cute Pluto t-shirt and pirate charters.
Off we went to babycare to feed Ava again. He clothes were soaked, as was all of her spare clothes that were in the change bag. We never made that mistake again as we wrapped her spare clothes in plastic bags after that We put her in Ben’s t-shirt, which I have to admit, she looked sooooo cute in
Took the opportunity for a photopass pic with her in it as well, love this photo
We headed back to the room as we’d decided to go for a swim before heading out for the evening. Ben was being a bit of a pain so I kept him in the room whilst Anthony took Ava for a swim. Think Ben just needed to chill out to be honest.
We went round to MGM to watch Fantasmic. We’d literally just planned to go for tea and watch the show, which was pretty much what we did. We had our first, and I think only, burger, of the trip which was lovely. Just before the show Ben went off with Anthony to get one of those Buzz Lightyear spinny light things, which both Ben and Ava loved. They also got me some light up Mickey ears…..unfortunately I don’t have a photo of me in them
The show, as always was incredible. Again, it was one we have the CD for so the children were familiar with the music. Always get a lump in my throat at the bit just before Mickey appears on the mountain, love it! It was the only time we got to see it on this trip, which was a shame as we all adore it.
So pleased we took Ava in the baby carrier tonight, rather than taking the buggy, made it so much easier to get out of the theatre and back onto the bus to the hotel.
After a wonderful day we all crashed out and were asleep as soon as our heads hit the pillow.

Thought that Ava was wrapped up in Chip and Dale there for a bit, then realized that Ben was enveloped in their arms.
