Wishes Collection Frequently Asked Questions

How do Disney's Custom Ceremonies differ from Disney's Intimate Ceremonies?

Escape Weddings are complete wedding and honeymoon packages designed for the bride and groom. They typically include a small ceremony with cake and a champagne toast, lodging at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, and Walt Disney World Theme Park tickets. Special arrangements can be made to accommodate up to eighteen guests at the ceremony.

Wishes Weddings are personalized events that allow the bride and groom to design a wedding ceremony and private reception in the Walt Disney World location of their choice. Because these are more elaborate, personalized events, minimum expenditures will apply. There are also certain food and beverage and room night minimums. Your Disney Wedding Consultant will work with you to establish a budget that meets all these requirements.

What is a Disney Custom Wedding going to cost?

No two Disney Weddings are alike. The following minimum wedding expenditures (excluding tax and service charges) must be met to host a Wishes Wedding event at the Walt Disney World Resort. These guidelines, based on season, day of week, and time of day*, have been designed to offer a variety of options to fit your budget, party size and personal wedding wishes.

These guidelines, based on season, day of week, and time of day*, have been designed to offer a variety of options to fit your budget, party size and personal wedding wishes.

Minimums can be met through a combination of food & beverage, floral, décor, music, entertainment, photography/videography, special transportation, venue rentals, and other wedding day services.

*During certain seasons, and on holidays, a higher wedding expenditure may apply. Please ask your Wedding Consultant for more information regarding those times.

What's the payment and deposit schedule for a Wishes Collection Wedding?

Deposits for Wishes Collection Weddings are required to confirm your event space and begin planning your event and reserving hotel room accommodations at special discounted rates. A signed Letter of Agreement along with a minimum non-refundable deposit ($2,000) will be required to confirm your wedding date. This non-refundable deposit will be applied to the minimum cost requirement of your Disney wedding. The full estimated payment (payable by check, money order, or American Express® or other accepted credit cards) of your event is due one month prior to the wedding date. You will receive a detailed Letter of Agreement that will further explain the payment schedule and deposit amounts.

When can I reserve my Wishes Collection Wedding date?

Wishes Collection Weddings can be tentatively booked 16 months in advance of your wedding date (based on availability). A minimum of 30 days is required to plan a Wishes Collection Wedding. They are able to confirm all Wishes Collection wedding space 12 months prior to your requested date, or 16 months prior for weddings being held within a theme park.

What happens if someone else wants to book the same date / time / location?

Prior to the 16 months before date, if someone else has registered an interest in the same time, date and location for the ceremony venue, when it comes to 16 months prior, each of those couples will be placed into a lottery. The person who wins that lottery gets that date / time / location choice. It helps if you are flexible over times, dates and locations, especially for the busier times and on Saturdays.

Can I attend a planning session before the wedding?

Yes, couples are invited to visit Disney World for a planning session prior to their wedding. The planning session is normally held 4-6 months before the wedding date. If you do attend a planning session, Disney's Fairytale Weddings will pay for one room night at the resort of your choice (based on availability.) Couples will also receive a free 30 minute engagement photo shoot with Disney Photographic Services, plus 3 complimentary 5x7 photos.

Are my guests required to stay at the Walt Disney World® Resort? Will they receive a discounted room rate?

Your guests may stay wherever they please. However, in order to make it easy and affordable for them to attend your special Disney event, Disney offer the lowest room rates available throughout the Walt Disney World Resort.

Based on your estimated number of guests, you must guarantee a minimum number of room nights at Walt Disney World owned and operated Resorts. Your Disney Wedding Sales Manager will be happy to discuss these minimums in detail to ensure your comfort level.

Is childcare available? We're planning an adults-only wedding.

Certainly. A number of options are available, ranging from in-room baby-sitting to themed children's parties held concurrently in a room adjacent to your celebration. In addition, many Walt Disney World® Resort hotels offer on-site children's "clubs." Ask your Disney Wedding Consultant.

Can Disney supply all the wedding services I'll need?

Yes. One of the best things about a Disney wedding is that through the aid of your Wedding Planning Team you'll have the vast resources of the Walt Disney World® Resort at your fingertips. These include:

Professional Wedding Event Manager
Photography
Floral Design
Catering
Wedding Cakes
Entertainment Planner (includes decor, theming, music,
landscaping, characters, lighting design, staging, etc.)
Musicians
Professional Hair and Makeup (by referral only)
Transportation
Travel Center
Specialty Table Linen Rental
Invitations/Favors
Dress Pressing (by referral only)
Officiant
Tuxedo Rental (by referral only)

Will transportation be available for my guests on the day of our wedding?

Disney's Wedding Pavilion is not on the Walt Disney World® Resort transportation system. To ensure the safety of your guests and the timeliness of your event, a Luxury Motorcoach Charter rental is available at an additional fee. Charter bus transportation allows for direct and easy access to the entire wedding event for your guests as well as a return to their Walt Disney World Resort Hotel at the conclusion of your celebration. In addition, the bus runs continuously throughout the event, giving those with small children or those who wish to return early (or stay late!) the opportunity to do so.

Can I have a Catholic ceremony and be married by a priest?

Although Disney's Wedding Pavilion is non-denominational, the official Orlando Catholic Diocese position is that no wedding ceremonies will be recognized outside the Catholic Church. You should speak with your personal clergy about your situation.

What's the best time of year to get married at Walt Disney World?

The busiest times are from May and October. You should consider the day of the week your date falls on, the weather and seasons and whether you would like a day or night wedding.
For example, it rains more often during summer, and there's also the chance of disruption during hurricane season.

What are the Save-The-Date forms sent out to our guests?

As soon as your signed Letter of Agreement is received and processed by Disney, they will send a complimentary "Save-the-Date" Announcement Mailing to all your invited guests. It includes an announcement to guests that your wedding event will be held at the Walt Disney World® Resort, a customized Guest Reservation Form and Advance Theme Park Ticket Form. You simply need to provide them with a complete guest address list and they will do the rest! They will also provide you with a supply of extra announcements and envelopes in case you have additional invitees.

Do we have to use Disney services for our wedding?

No, not for everything. So long as you have met your minimum expenditure totals you can use outside vendors for photography, videography, floral and decor. There may be an extra fee involved, check on the relevant page for details.

Do we need to tip anyone on the day?

Can I use outside vendors for my wedding or do I need to use Disney services?

So long as you've met your minimum expenditure totals in other areas, you are able to use outside vendors for photography, videography, floral, decor and entertainment.

The exception to this is for all contracts issued after October 2008 for those having an event inside a theme park. This includes ceremonies, receptions and dessert parties. Those couples affected will have to use Disney for all services.

Weddings at any outdoor location can no longer use outside vendors for floral, decor or entertainment.
