Introduction to Tomorrowland

The future that never was . . . is here!

When Walt Disney envisioned the first Tomorrowland at Disneyland in California, he dreamed of a land with the look of futuristic cities imagined by sci-fi writers and Hollywood movie-makers -- complete with attractions that explore space and time. He wanted guests to experience the "future that could be, but never was."

Now opening at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, Tomorrowland is a land that pays homage to what many dreamed the future would be -- a neighborhood of sky-piercing beacons and glistening metal illuminated by a celestial spectrum of neon colors; of flying saucers circling among spinning planets and a base for Space Rangers to fight the evils of the galactic empire.

The land's fanciful design recalls timeless and romantic predictions of space travel as first envisioned by such renowned futurists as Leonardo daVinci, Jules Verne and H.G. Wells.

The overall effect is a friendly neighborhood atmosphere like other lands in Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. And it's home to some of the world's most popular Disney attractions, including Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters and Space Mountain.

Guests enter the space portal-like entrance of Tomorrowland as brightly colored planets spin in seemingly perpetual orbit in the heavens. Amidst the orbit guests can queue for Orbitron, a spinning adventure aboard a hub-and-spoke array of colorful flying saucers.

Able to control the saucers' movements up and down with a control joystick, guests can control the height of their saucers as they take a trip around the spinning planets. Sound effects are also controlled by riders at the push of a few buttons.

Rising dramatically above the Tomorrowland horizon behind Orbitron is one of the most unusual and iconic architectural structures in the world -- and the tallest structure inside Hong Kong Disneyland -- Space Mountain.

Named the "most popular Disney attraction" in a recent survey, Space Mountain is featured at every Disney theme park location in the world.

Another exciting attraction in Tomorrowland at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort is Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, an interactive adventure inspired by a Walt Disney Pictures presentation of a Pixar Animation Studios film, "Toy Story 2."

Two Tomorrowland attractions, Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, feature Disney's FASTPASS -- a computerized system that gives guests an alternative to standard queues at several popular attractions in Hong Kong Disneyland. The computerized system offers a way for guests to avoid queues and pack more Disney theme park fun into their day.

The newest attraction is Autopia, an auto-themed attraction where guests can take the wheel and navigate the unique roadways created for colorful, pint-sized cars. The attraction features an alien driving landscape where young and old alike can get behind the wheel of stylish and new, all-electric vehicles and navigate the course.
