WALT DISNEY WORLD RAILROAD

Being a Lifelong fan of the railroads, it seemed only natural that Walt would fuel his passion by having them operate around his theme parks, and so he did!

The Walt Disney Railroad takes passengers on a leisurely run around the Magic Kingdom, stopping off at most of the lands en-route and offering some unique views, especially around Big Thunder Mountain. It's also a quick way of moving from land to land should the walking start to take its toll.

The signature Main Street Station has become a centre-piece for all who visit.

The Main St Station area is an excellent and popular viewing area for parades and evening firework displays.

The trains were built between 1916 and 1928 in the United States but put into service in Mexico as freight trains for many years. The passenger cars were built in 1970/71.
The steam engines on the Walt Disney World Railroad in the Magic Kingdom, are named "Walter E. Disney", "Roy O. Disney", "Lilly Belle" (after Walt's wife, Lillian Bounds Disney), & "Roger E. Broggie" (the head of MAPO, the prototype manufacturing & production division of WED).
The trains run at about 10 mph around a 1.5 mile circuit that circles the Magic Kingdom.
