SWISS FAMILY TREEHOUSE

The 60-foot-tall tree house has been a favourite Adventureland attraction since the Magic Kingdom opening in 1971.
Based on the 1960's Disney classic 'The Swiss Family Robinson', the Swiss Family Treehouse takes guests on a tour around the man-made home made famous by the shipwrecked family.
When visitors reach the top of the tree, they can look out from the high perspective and feel all the more that they’re in the middle of a tropical island.
The winding river and lush bamboo and palm foliage of the nearby Jungle Cruise blend perfectly into the picture.

Tips & Fun Facts

Lookout for plaques on your way round that tell the tale of the Robinsons.

Spanish moss and more than 330,000 leaves “sprout” from the branches of the Robinson’s gigantic home.
The moss is real, but the polyethylene leaves only look that way. The tree itself is a very good look-alike, too. It’s made from cement and steel, but it looks as though it’s wood clear through its 15-foot trunk and its nine main limbs. The entire attraction weighs about 200 tons.
The Fake Banyan tree is also known as 'Disneyodendron eximus'.

Additional Information

Not suitable for wheelchair users.

Requires climbing lots of stairs (approx 128) and following a series of walkways

Hidden Mickeys

In the family's dining room, check out the carvings on the back of the chairs.

Near the base of the tree, there is a white hidden Mickey disguised with moss. To help locate it, the oar sticking out of the Prayer room points towards it.
