Lightning McQueen is a hotshot rookie race car who is driven to succeed. He in speeding his way along Route 66 to the big Piston Cup Championship in California when he crashes into Radiator Springs, destroying lots of the inhabitants belongings. In order to make up for what he did, the cocky roadster is sentenced to community service, where he discovers life is about the journey, not the finish line.

He gets to know the town's offbeat characters, Sally the Porsche, Doc Hudson, and rusty tow truck Mater, and they help him realize that there are more important things than trophies, fame and sponsorship.
