Peter Pan

The story of Peter Pan, a boy who never grows up. He flies through the window of the Darlings' nursery in search of his lost shadow. There he finds the children, Wendy, John and Michael, and accompanied by feisty Tinker Bell, teaches them to fly.

They all take flight to the second star to the right and straight ahead to Never Land! There they meet with the evil Captain Hook and his pirate crew.

Tinker Bell grows to be jealous of Peter's friendship with Wendy and gets duped into helping Captain Hook who kidnaps the Darling children and the Lost Boys.

Just in time, Peter manages to save them all from the Captain, whose time is nearly up against a ticktocking crocodile.

Fun Facts

In 1939, Walt Disney requested permission to use the story from Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, which held the rights to the play. But the film only began production in 1949.
The film doesn't use any of the original dialogue from J.M. Barrie's play.
Margaret Kerry was the real-life model for Tinker Bell, and not Marilyn Monroe as rumored.
Hook loses his right hand in the original play, but the Disney animators though it would be less limiting if it was his left hand.
The melody for "The Second Star to the Right" was originally to be used in Alice in Wonderland for a song called "Beyond the Laughing Sky."
The live action model for Captain Hook was Henry Brandon.

Quotes

Peter Pan: Second star to the right and straight on till morning.

Peter Pan: Tinkle Bell! I hereby banish you forever.
Wendy: Please, not forever.
Peter Pan: Well, for a week then.

Wendy: But, Peter, how do we get to Never Land?
Peter Pan: Fly, of course.
Wendy: Fly?
Peter Pan: It's easy! All you have to do is to... is to... is to... Ha! That's funny.
Wendy: What's the matter? Don't you know?
Peter Pan: Oh, sure. It's... It's just that I never thought about it before. Say, that's it! You think of a wonderful thought

Narrator: All of this has happened before, and it will all happen again.

Bloopers

When Peter Pan lands on the minute hand of Big Ben at the beginning of the movie, he moves it 11 minutes forward. But at the end of the movie, Big Ben chimes the same time as the clock in the house.
When Peter Pan cuts the rigging, nine pirates fall into the lifeboat, but when Captain Hook passes the boat a short time after, there are only four pirates in the boat with Smee.
