Cathedrale

In 1771, Napoleon Bonaparte was baptized in this 16th-century edifice, dedicated to "La Madonuccia" (Little Madonna), the patron saint who is said to have protected Ajaccio from the Black Plague. Inside, discover an exquisite painting of the Virgin Mary by Eugene Delacroix.

Place de Foch

In the heart of Ajaccio is this handsome city square lined with cafes and restaurants. At its center stands a statue of Napoleon wearing a Roman toga and surrounded by a fountain with 4 mighty stone lions.

Le Musée Fesch

The museum built at the request of cardinal Fesch—maternal uncle of Napoleon I—is the present-day home of more than a thousand works of Italian painting. From Roman baroque masterpieces to art in the neoclassical style, this landmark is a must-see for lovers of high culture.
