  • Take a 30 minute drive (approximate) from the pier to the L'Aquarium de Barcelona, considered one of the best aquariums in Europe.
  • Enjoy a 60-minute visit and view thousands of colorful sea animals swimming in 35 elaborate tanks. Note: You will walk up or down approximately 15 steps at the Aquarium, 100 steps at Park Güell and will walk approximately one mile throughout the tour. Wear comfortable walking shoes.
  • Travel on a "travelator" through an underwater tunnel inside a massive shark tank for a unique opportunity to observe these captivating creatures.
  • Drive approximately 45 minutes to Park Güell. This whimsical park was designed by Spain's renowned architect Antoni Gaudì, an artist highly influenced by organic shapes in nature. Here, walkways are supported by twisting rock pillars that seem to be growing out of the ground like tree trunks.
  • Traverse these paths and reach the top of Park Güell for a stunning view of Barcelona City, then relax on bench seats that trace the spine of a sea serpent.
  • Continue the tour onboard the bus with a stop at Mirador del Alcalde for more magnificent views of the city before returning to the pier.

  • Take a 30-minute drive (approximate) past Passeig de Gràcia, the road home to 2 great creations by the architect Antoni Gaudì: Casa Batlló and La Pedrera. These buildings, with undulating balconies and fantastic metalwork, were inspired by nature.
  • Continue to the church known as Gaudì's unfinished masterpiece, La Sagrada Familia. Enjoy a guided walking tour (wear comfortable walking shoes) around the outside of the building to learn more about this remarkable structure.
  • Next, take a 60-minute panoramic bus tour around the city past historic sights including Montjuïc Mountain, Congress Palace, Miró Foundation, Plaza España, Paralel Avenue, Columbus Monument, Via Layetana, Plaza Cataluña and Passeig de Gràcia.
  • Return to Passeig de Gràcia and enter the Costa Gallega restaurant. Note: There are approximately 20 steps in the restaurant. No elevators are available.

Discover Barcelona and the Spanish Village

  • Drive past the Columbus Monument and down the commercial avenue of Via Layetana to the Gothic Quarter.
  • Explore the historic district on a guided 60-minute walking tour, including Gothic buildings that marked the height of culture for the city during the Middle Ages. Note: Total distance of walk is approximately 2 miles.
  • Drive past Placa Catalunya, the main square of the city, and the Passeig de Gràcia, an elegant avenue of modern architecture, before arriving at La Familia Sagrada, considered Gaudì's unfinished masterpiece. Enjoy a 30-minute external visit.
  • Next, drive approximately 30 minutes to the Pueblo Español. This Spanish Village was built in 1929 for the Barcelona International Exhibition as a place to showcase arts, crafts and traditional Spanish architecture.
  • Be welcomed by the tour guide who will explain the goals of the treasure hunt. Receive your tools: one pack per family containing a magnifying glass, a plate, postcards with the picture of the places you have to find, a wooden key ring, a hand mirror with the skyline of Barcelona, and a map. Follow the clues to discover 3 different workshops in the village that specialize in basket-making, ceramics and glass shaping—where you'll have the opportunity to see how these craftsmen work. Receive a souvenir from each place you successfully find!

  • Arrive at the Spanish Village, located in the Montjuïc Mountains. This area was built in 1929 for the Universal Exposition and is divided into sections that contain replicas of the unique styles of architecture from the various regions in Spain.
  • Enjoy a 25-minute guided tour (wear comfortable shoes) around the Village before arriving at the Andalusian section for a 30-minute Flamenco show. Experience the passion, color and drama of this traditional music and dance while having a drink of sangria (children under 21 years of age will be served a non-alcoholic beverage). Note: Guests stand to watch the show and are required to walk approximately one mile during this tour across cobblestones, concrete and steep surfaces during this tour.
  • After the show, enjoy some tapas—small bites of a wide variety of tasty foods—at the Restaurant Tablao del Carmen.
  • Enjoy approximately 40 minutes of free time to wander through the artistic streets of the Andalusian or Castilian sections, where you can buy souvenirs or hand-crafted products.

  • Drive down Via Layetena and Placa Catalunya—2 famous commercial streets—to arrive at La Sagrada Familia.

  • Take a 30-minute drive (approximate) to Park Güell. Fashioned after the English model of a "Garden City," this park was designed by Gaudì in the early 20th century and was intended as a hillside garden suburb of Barcelona.
  • Enjoy a guided walk through Park Güell followed by some free time during your 45-minute visit. Note: There are approximately 100 steps and you will walk approximately one mile at Park Güell.
  • Continue the tour of Gaudì's work as you drive along Passeig de Gràcia, the widest avenue in the city, to see many Modernist houses designed by Gaudì and other important architects. Stop in front of La Pedrera House, which translates as "the quarry house" because of its cliff-like walls.

  • Drive to Laietana Avenue where the walking starts in the Gothic Quarter, an island city within the city surrounded by the remains of Roman walls.
  • Begin your guided walking tour (wear comfortable shoes) with a visit of the Cathedral complex—containing three medieval palaces—which dates back to the 14th and 15th centuries and is dedicated to Eulalia, patroness of the city, who is buried here in a crypt. Note: Total distance of walk is approximately 2 miles and includes up to 60 steps. Guests, including children, wishing to visit churches must ensure that shoulders and knees remain covered. You can wear shorts that reach below the knee and tank tops, as long as you bring a sweater or scarf.
  • Continue through the Plaza Nova to the Palau de la Generalitat and the Town Hall.
  • Walk to Plaza Reial, then Las Ramblas, and onto the Boquerìa Market. Relax and exchange your voucher for a drink of juice or a small treat.
  • Enjoy approximately 30 minutes free time for shopping and sightseeing.
  • Make your way down from La Ramblas to the Columbus Monument.
  • Take a short drive back to the pier.

Montserrat: Full Day

  • Depart on a 20-minute drive (approximate) through Barcelona past the Olympic Ring and Stadium.
  • Stop at Montjuïc Mountain to photograph the point between the city and the sea. Note: Total distance of walk is approximately 2 miles. Wear comfortable shoes.
  • Continue to the train station and climb aboard for a 15-minute ride on the Rack Railroad to the Montserrat Mountain range.
  • Hike (approximately 70 steps on a 45° ramp) to the famous Montserrat Monastery that is perched on a ledge and hangs 2,400 feet above the River Llobregat. Founded as a Benedictine Abbey during the 11th century, it is now the location of the Shrine of Our Lady of Montserrat, or "La Moreneta." This small Romanesque statue depicts the Virgin Mary with her child Jesus on her lap. Made of wood, this figure has turned black as the varnish has changed over time, giving her the name, "The Black Madonna." Note: Guests, including children, wishing to visit churches must ensure that shoulders and knees remain covered. You can wear shorts that reach below the knee and tank tops as long as you bring a sweater or scarf to wrap around your shoulders.
  • After your 60-minute guided tour, take the San Joan funicular (cable car) further up the mountain for an amazing panoramic view.
  • Descend back down the mountain and enjoy approximately 90 minutes free time to explore the different paths from the Main Square.
  • Have lunch at the renowned restaurant Abat Cisneros (included in the price of this tour).
  • Take the train back down the mountain and rejoin the bus for an hour of sightseeing tours of Barcelona, including a 20-minute photo stop at Gaudì's unfinished masterpiece, La Sagrada Familia. Note: this is an external visit only.

Montserrat: Half Day

  • Take a 40-mile drive through the countryside to the Rack Railway train station.
  • Climb aboard the train for a 14-minute ride up the rugged Montserrat Mountain range. These mysterious peaks have been featured in many legends; in the Arthurian myth, this is the location of the Holy Grail.
  • Hike (approximately 70 steps on a 45° ramp) to the famous Montserrat Monastery that is perched on a ledge, hanging 2,400 feet above the River Llobregat. Panoramic Drive Through Barcelona

  • Stop at vista point on Mirador del Alcalde for splendid views over Barcelona.
  • Continue soaring over the city at the Olympic Stadium—built in 1929, but not used until the 1992 Olympic Games.
  • Drive past the Pueblo Español (the Spanish Village), Congress Palace and España Square and onto the Arc de Triomf. Built in 1888 for the World's Fair, this massive arch with ornate carvings stands as the gateway to the Citadel Park.
  • Ride through the park and stop at Gaudì's La Sagrada Familia for a 30-minute exterior visit. Here you can also shop for souvenirs at market-style shops around the church and enjoy a complimentary beverage at a nearby restaurant.
  • Next, drive down Passeig de Gràcia to see two more of Gaudì's magnificent creations, Casa Mila and Casa Batlló.
  • Finally, pass the city's main square, Placa Catalunya and Via Layetana, the busiest commercial avenue, and the Columbus Monument before arriving back at the pier.
