Cartagena Beach & Water Excursions

Tour of the Rosario Islands

Cruise to the Rosario Islands and soak up the sun, sand and surf of Isla de Sol.

Set your sights on a stunning panorama of sprawling ocean views, rolling green hills and rocky bluffs as you embark on a scenic speedboat ride — following an approximate 15-minute walk through the port— along the verdant coast of Colombia to the heart of paradise: the Rosario Islands. Made up of 27 islands, the Rosario Islands are a National Natural Park nestled just 24 miles south of the city center and brimming with crystal-clear water, gold sandy beaches and swaying palm trees. Make your way to Isla de Sol and, upon your arrival, savor a sip of a tropical refreshment and some fresh fruit as you bask in the island breezes that surround you at every turn.

During your island visit, enjoy the flavor of a delicious lunch with all the trimmings. Sunbathe on the golden sands or stroll along the winding coastline and take in the breathtaking views of sea and shore. Splash it up in a local resort pool or sprawl out on a beach chair and drift off to the soothing sounds of the ocean waves breaking in the distance. Take a short boat ride to a nearby reef and snorkel amidst a kaleidoscope of magnificent marine life — and then dive down into the warm water and take a closer look at the extraordinary coral formations. After approximately two-and-a-half hours of beachside bliss, begin your hour-long return trip back to the pier, followed by a breezy 15-minute walk to the ship.

Brimming with white-sand beaches, crystal clear water and swaying palm trees, Playa Blanca is arguably Baru Island's — if not, Cartagena's — most breathtaking beach. Upon your arrival, board the boat, meet your guide and then take off on a narrated sightseeing journey through the breathtaking blue as you sail past the picturesque island of Tierra Bomba, and the quaint fishing villages of Punta Arenas, Caño del Oro and Bocachica. Enjoy a brief photo stop from the boat at the 18th-century Fort of San Jose de Bocachica — built to help defend the city and bay from invasion.
