Castle of St. George
The São Jorge Castle is a cultural and leisure unique area, with many points of interest. Historical, architectural or simply leisure places. Alfama
See some wonderful buildings, examples of Moorish and Roman architecture, as you stroll through Lisbon's historic center.
Lisbon Cathedral
Lisbon's oldest church, this cathedral dates back to the 12th century and was built in Romanesque and Gothic styles (with both rounded and pointed arches). Inside, gaze upon the 14th-century chapel of Bartholomeu Joanes and the crib by Machado de Castro.
Belém
An ancient city where famed Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama set sail for the New World. Home to Belem Tower, Jerónimos Monastery, Monument to the Discoveries, and the Coach Museum. Take tram 15 to the west, which follows the coast line.
Monosterio dos Jeronimos
Considered to be one of Portugal's greatest landmarks, this white-marble monastery was built in the 16th century. The monastery walls are adorned with decorative stone carvings of rope, fishes and conches.
Shopping
Lisbon is great for shopping, with a number of malls and shopping streets. Lisbon's main shops are between Praca Rossio Square and Praca do Comercio Square. Note that many shops observe a siesta and close from 1-3pm.
