Dolphin Encounter

Make a new friend during a "hands-on" dolphin encounter at the Dolphin Adventure Center in Nuevo Vallarta.

Surrender to the splendor of Puerto Vallarta as you travel for 30-minutes aboard an air-conditioned motor coach — past rolling hills, fleeting coastal views and the Sierra Madre mountain range in the distance — to the Dolphin Adventure Center. Located in Nuevo Vallarta, the Dolphin Adventure Center is one of the few marine mammal centers in the world to offer people of all ages the unique opportunity to partake in up-close and personal experiences with dolphins, and is committed to the conservation and protection of marine mammals. Upon your arrival, meet and greet the dolphin trainers and take in an informative introduction to dolphins, including a discussion on their anatomy, physiology, natural history and amazing underwater communication system. Then, accompanied by a trainer, immerse yourself in a specially-designed shallow pool where you'll have 15 minutes to touch and pet a real live Pacific Bottlenose dolphin.

During the hands-on experience, examine the dolphin's smooth skin and delight in its gentle demeanor. Practice and learn some of the techniques the trainers use to communicate with the dolphins and discover how to feed these gentle creatures of the deep. Before you go, delight in a very special kiss and "handshake" from the dolphins, and marvel as they show off their spectacular jumps. Dolphin Trainer For a Day

  • Lunch (salads, Mexican dishes, sandwiches and burgers) and a sparkling soda are included.
  • Wheelchairs need to be standard size and collapsible; no electric wheelchairs permitted. Guests must be able to enter and exit the water on their own. It is recommmeded that wheelchair Guests come accompanied by a family member or friend who can provide assistance, if necessary.
  • This excursion is stroller accessible. However, some portions of the tour may require Guests to fold accompanying strollers. In addition, lightweight strollers are recommended.
  • The water depth is approximately 3.5 feet deep.
  • The minimum height requirement for participation is 4 feet 5 inches. However, smaller children can be held by a parent or guardian in the water.
  • Guests wishing to accompany a family member or friend should book the Dolphin Observer excursion.
  • Guests are reminded that all children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian booked on the Sea Lion Encounter or the Dolphin Observer excursion at the same time. In addition, Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by a paying adult booked on the Sea Lion Encounter.
  • Guest should note that the Sea Lion Encounter takes place at a different section of the Dolphin Center from where the dolphin interaction excursions are held.
  • Guests should note that camera, sunscreen and jewelry are not allowed in the pool areas. Photos can be taken from the educational area and viewing platform.

Yelapa & Majahuitas

Kayak and snorkel in Majahuitas and sunbathe and sightsee in Yelapa during a sailing expedition into the heart of paradise.

Retreat to the captivating coastline of Puerto Vallarta as you set sail aboard a luxurious catamaran — past rocky perches, scenic shorelines and hidden coves — to the secluded hideaway known as Majahuitas. During your 75-minute journey along the coastline of Banderas Bay, revel in the seaside sights of Vallarta town and behold Los Arcos, the magnificent rock formation that jets out of the sea and arches high into sky. Behold the small village of Mismaloya, the site where "The Night of the Iguana" was filmed and lose yourself to the secluded splendor of Las Caletas. Upon your arrival at a secluded cove in Majahuitas, immerse yourself in a wondrous snorkeling and kayaking adventure amidst the crystal-blue water where stunning reef formations and colorful fish surround you at every turn. After your approximate 100-minute visit, savor the flavor of a delectable Mexican lunch on the boat as you make your way to Yelapa.

After your 30-minute journey, arrive in the small Mexican fishing village of Yelapa. Boasting a geography and climate similar to Tahiti, Yelapa is a tranquil oasis amidst paradise that is only accessible by boat. Embark on a guided hike through the verdant jungle flora and make your way to the awe-inspiring Cola de Caballo waterfalls. Snap a picture of this majestic natural wonder, which stands at over 100 feet high, before taking some time to soak up the sun on the wide sandy beach and swim in the protected waters of Yelapa's picturesque bay. Go for a walk along the stunning coastline or simply lose yourself to the gentle lapping sounds of the breaking waves in a lounge chair. After your approximate two-hour visit, bask in the sea breezes and unwind with a refreshing drink during a fun-filled fiesta — awash with music and entertainment — onboard the catamaran, as you begin your approximate 90-minute trip back to the ship.
