Baiona and the Fortress

Drive approximately 45 minutes from the pier to Baiona, where Columbus first landed in 1493 after his return from the New World.
Enjoy a 30-minute visit to the replica of the caravel La Pinta, which is anchored in the harbor. Note: In order to board the caravel, guests must be in good physical condition and wear flat shoes. This tour includes approximately 1.3 miles of walking at a steady pace, part of which will be on cobblestones, uneven surfaces, and uphill, including 20 steep steps. In order to access certain sections of the caravel, Guests will have to pass through a small opening in the ship.
In Baiona, enjoy a 90-minute guided visit of the 17th century Monterreal Fortress. A series of fortresses has stood here since the year 60, when Julius Caesar conquered Baiona.
Enjoy appetizers at the Parador de Gondomar: Situated on the Monterreal peninsula, this is one of the most unique Paradors in Spain. Surround by pine forest, it commands an impressive viewpoint above the ocean within a walled enclosure. Take the approximate 45-minute drive back to the pier.

Leaving the port, take a scenic 75 minute drive (approximate) through the Galician countryside to the historic town of Santiago de Compostela. Millions of people from all over the world come to this city every year, many of them having reached the end of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route.
Upon arrival, walk to the Plaza del Obradoiro (Obradoiro Square)—the monumental centre of Santiago. The buildings enclosing the Plaza del Obradoiro (Obradoiro Square) are the Cathedral, the Hostal de los Reyes Católicos, the Colegio de San Xerome (San Xerome School) and the Palacio de Raxio (Raxio Palace). Note: This tour includes a minimum of 1 mile of walking at a steady pace, part of which will be on cobblestones, uneven surfaces, and uphill, including stairs.
Enjoy approximately 75 minutes free time for independent sightseeing or shopping.
Enjoy a 2 hour and 15 minute guided visit of Santiago de Compostela: visit the Plaza del Obradoiro, the Cathedral, the Plaza Platerías and walk around the city centre. Note: Guests wishing to enter the church must ensure that shoulders and knees remain covered. Guests can wear shorts that reach below the knee and tank tops, as long as they bring a sweater or scarf to wrap around their shoulders.
Walk to the Hostal de los Reyes Católicos and enjoy lunch (included in the price of this tour). The Hostal de los Reyes Católicos is a beautifully restored 16th Century building that was a former pilgrim hospital.
After lunch, walk back to the buses and drive back to the pier.

Kayaking in Salvaterra

Drive approximately 45 minutes to the town of Salvaterra. Note: Guests should wear athletic-type shoes and comfortable attire which can get wet (flip flops and sandals are not allowed). Upon arrival, receive a safety briefing and tips about kayaking before setting out on the river. Note: Guests must be able to swim Guests should be in good physical condition; this tour is not suitable for Guests with back or neck injuries or expectant mothers. Lifejackets are mandatory.
Follow your escort for approximately 4 miles along the Miño River during your 90-minute adventure.

There is also a "mirador" (viewpoint) above the mouth of River Miño with spectacular views of both Spain and Portugal. River Rafting

Take a scenic 60-minute drive (approximate) to Arbo. Note: Guests should be in good physical condition to participate.
Make a short stop to use the changing facilities before continuing on an additional 15-minute drive to the starting point for your activity.
Upon arrival, receive a comprehensive safety briefing and instructions including a mandatory lifejacket. Note: Guests must be able to swim.
Descend the Miño River in a boat selected according to the water level at the time of your tour. Your rafting adventure will take approximately 90 minutes, including several stops along the way. Note: The level of rafting is Class III (medium difficulty).
Take a short walk to changing facilities and showers before the approximate 60-minute drive back to the pier.

The Border Country

Drive approximately 45 minutes past the vineyards and pine forests ofthe beautiful Galician hills.
Cross the Minho River that forms the border between Spain and Portugal. While crossing the river, enjoy the view which includes including the rail bridge designed by Gustav Eiffel during his time in Portugal.
Standing on the border with Spain and overlooking the River Minho, the town of Valença is surrounded by stone walls and displays all the characteristics of towns that were fortified in the 17th century. Note: This tour includes approximately 0.5 miles of walking at a steady pace, part of which will be on cobblestones, uneven surfaces and uphill, including stairs.
Have a 45-minute walking tour of the village before enjoying approximately 45 minutes of free time for independent sightseeing or shopping along the charming cobblestone streets. Note: Since Valença is in Portugal, the Galician guides will not be able to give a guided tour while in another country. They will walk with the Guests through the village and give some explanations but cannot stop at each monument.
Return to Vigo and visit Mount Castro for panoramic views over the port and city.
