PANGANI FOREST EXPLORATION TRAIL
|
|
"Pangani Forest Exploration Trail" is commonly the next stop for guests exiting Kilimanjaro Safari as it allows you to get that little bit closer to some of the animals you may catch sight of during the tour. It is of course, available to walk round whenever you wish too, and includes the like of Gorillas, Meerkats and a reptile & rodent research building which you wont see during the safari attraction. The exploration trail mimics the lush jungle foliage and running streams similar to that found on the continent of Africa. Among the many species of mammals, birds and other creatures, you'll find the Okapi - the only known relative of the giraffe family which look like a cross between giraffe and zebra. Naked Mole Rats (the only hairless rodents), Tarantulas, the African Bullfrog and the Kenyan Sand Boa feature prominently in the research hut, but if that’s not your cup of tea you can skip by into the aviary area which follows. Your next encounter is that of the hippopotamus in an underwater viewing area. Hippo's spend most of their time in the water so if you didn’t see them greatly during Kilimanjaro Safari, this is an excellent chance to observe these majestic African creatures up close. The savannah grasslands are home to the likes of the Meerkat and little-known members of the antelope family the Dik-Dik. The finale of the trail leads you to the rulers of the African forests, the Gorillas. Two females and their young as well as a male Silverback may all be seen amongst the foliage of their natural habitats. Cast members are found throughout the trails and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
