Tips & Fun Facts
Worried if your child might find it scary? The Hauted Mansion is presented in a humourous light and with families in mind, therefore its not likely to give you nightmares, however parental discretion is advised for the younger ones.
When you go into the room with all of the pictures on the wall, stand under the lady in the pink holding. This is where you exit to the Doombuggies. Also, take the right hang queue because it curves to the right so the left queue has further to go.
Be careful when stepping out of your doombuggy, the moving platform and combined darkness can make it tricky.
Dont miss the pet cemetary on your exit from the attraction, on your left hand side!
Legendary voice artist Paul Frees, known to many as Boris Badenov from 'The Bullwinkle Show' is the attraction's narrator, or ghost host.
Leota Thomas provided the face for the crystal ball (containing Madame Leota), and voice artist Eleanor Audley provided the voice. Audley is also famous as the voice of the evil Maleficent in Disney's classic animated feature 'Sleeping Beauty'.
All the Disney Parks around the globe have a version of The Haunted Mansion and it is the only attraction to feature in 4 different 'land's. WDW's is in Liberty Square's New Orleans Square, DLP's (known as Phantom Manor) is in Frontierland and Tokyo Disney's is located in Fantasyland
The five singing busts in the graveyard scene warble the attraction's theme song, 'Grim Grinning Ghosts'. Though sometimes mistaken for Walt Disney, the face on the bust farthest to the left actually belongs to Thurl Ravenscroft, the song's soloist. Ravenscroft is known to millions of fans as the voice of Tony the Tiger, the mascot of Kellogg's Frosted Flakes cereal.
The witty tombstones near the entrance to the attraction feature the names of some of the designers who helped create the attraction. These are some you might see :-
'Here lies good ol' Fred. A great big rock fell on his head.'
'Dear departed brother Dave, He chased a bear into a cave.'
'Rest in peace, brother Huet. We all know you didn't do it.'
'Master Gracey laid to rest. No mourning, please, at his request. Farewell.'
'RIP good friend Gordon now you've crossed the River Jordan'
RIP in memorium Uncle Myall Here you'll rest for quite a while'
Here rests Wathel R. Bender, he rode to glory on a fender'
'At peaceful rest lies Brother Claude, planted here beneath this sod'
'RIP Mr Sewell, the victim of a dirty duel'
'In memory of our patriarch, dear departed Grandpa Marc'
'Requiescat Francis Xavier, no time off for good behavior RIP'
'Here lies a man named Martin, the lights went out on this old spartan'
One of the newest tombstones honors the late Walt Disney Imagineer Leota Thomas (her maiden name was Toombs). Periodically, Leota's tombstone can be spotted slowly opening and closing the eyes on its sculpted head.
During the ballroom scene, keep an eye out for a plate and pair of saucers on the banquet table which form a familiar Mickey shape.
As your Doombuggie moves through the graveyard, check out the Grim Reapers left hand, it appears to form a Mickey outline with its fingers.
