Tips & Fun Facts Although animals are typically more active in mornings and during cooler weather, Kilimanjaro Safaris has great animal viewing in both the morning and afternoon. The safari offers numerous photo opportunities of animals (if they're awake) so keep those camera's close at hand. The bumpiness of the terrain and constant motion can make picture taking tricky though. The safari vehicles are modified GM trucks, and go a maximum of 10mph. Each can hold a maximum of 32 guests. The savannah plains stretch for a huge 110 acres. The rocks that you'll often see the lions on are actually climate controlled to encourage them to sit or lie in view of safari guests.
