Revel in the unspoiled splendor of Cartagena as you embark on a 30-minute, air-conditioned motor coach drive — past lush vegetation and sparkling seaside views — to the elegant, Caribbean-inspired Las Americas Hotel and Resort overlooking the coast. During your journey, discover the history of the region from your friendly guide, and marvel at the breathtaking views that surround you everywhere you look. Upon your arrival, board your canoe and then embark on a guided adventure amidst the still swamp water and calm mangroves of the Cienaga De la Virgen, considered to be the most important eco-system in Cartagena.

During your expedition into the heart of Cienaga De la Virgen, lose yourself to the serenity of the calm water and pristine coastline as your guide paddles you through shady mangrove tunnels. Coast around cool canopied bends as the warm tropical breezes wash over in every direction, and learn about the spectacular flora and fauna — some exclusively indigenous to the region — from your guide. Keep an eye out for birds soaring high in the sky, and turn your gaze to the still water beneath you to spy a curious crustacean or colorful fish. After your hour-long journey, savor the flavor of a refreshing beverage and then sit back and surrender to the picturesque sights once more as you begin your 30-minute return trip — passing through the historic walled city — back to the ship.

• Wheelchairs (collapsible or electric) are not permitted.
• This excursion is not stroller accessible.
• This is a guided adventure. Guests are not required to paddle the canoe at any time.
• Canoes fit up to four persons. Maximum canoe weight limit is 250 lbs. per person.
• Guests are required to walk across approximatley 200 yards of occasionally uneven terrain. Additionally, Guests will need to traverse approximately 15 stairs.
• Travel time in canoes may vary due to weather.
• For safety reasons, expectant mothers are not permitted to participate.
• Guests are encouraged to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, additional clothing, hats, cameras and/or backpacks.
• Guests are encouraged to bring cash or credit cards to purchase optional extras, such as souvenirs.
• Due to limited availability, Guests are encouraged to book early.
