  • Take an approximate 30-minute drive and arrive at the Open Air Museum, where you will enjoy a traditional Danish Lunch Buffett (included in the price of this tour). The museum founded in 1897 and spread across 86 acres, features more than 50 farms, mills and houses from 1650 to 1950. Virtually every region in Denmark and the Faeroe Islands, as well as the former Danish provinces of southern Sweden and northern Germany, is represented. The buildings are furnished and to illustrate everyday life and daily chores in the old farmsteads and rural cottages, especially in the 18th and 19th centuries. The houses are arranged according to region, and the gardens and landscapes represent different parts of Denmark.   • Enjoy an old fashioned horse-drawn carriage ride around the museum grounds for approximately 30 minutes.
  • Stroll the park and visit the exhibits for approximately 1.5 hours at your leisure. The open air museum is a "living museum." During the summer season museum staff and volunteers populate the houses and museum grounds, dress in period costumes and engage in typical period household and agricultural chores for visitors to watch or take part in. You may freely walk in and out of houses, watch demonstrations of typical chores and activities, speak with the staff and take part in some of the activities if you like.

Castles of North Zealand

  • Enjoy an approximate 45-minute scenic drive through the North Zealand countryside north of Copenhagen. Arrive at Frederiksborg Castle, considered by many to be the finest example of Danish renaissance architecture and the most magnificent castle in Denmark. Note: This tour includes approximately 0.8 miles of walking at a steady pace, part of which will be on cobblestones, uneven surfaces and uphill, including stairs. Frederiksborg castle has 3 flights of stairs and no elevator. Wear comfortable shoes.
  • Enjoy a guided inside visit of the Frederiksborg Castle. Originally built in the early 17th century by King Christian IV, this splendid Renaissance castle now serves as the Danish National Museum of History. Visit its small chapel, which contains the oldest working organ in the world, as well as the stunning interior of the castle and its opulent state rooms, lavishly decorated with period paintings and furniture.
  • Continue on by bus for another 15 minutes to the charming village of Fredensborg, where you will have the opportunity to photograph the outside of Fredensborg Palace, the royal family's summer residence. Enjoy a lunch buffet (included in the price of this tour) featuring typical Danish delicacies at a local inn.
  • After lunch, continue northeast for approximately 20 minutes to the seaside town of Elsinore to visit renowned Kronborg Castle, made famous as the Castle of Hamlet in Shakespeare's play. For centuries it has been one of the most important Renaissance castles in Northern Europe and was added to UNESCO's World Heritage Sites list in 2000. Enjoy a guided stroll of the old ramparts and courtyard and learn about the castle's historic and literary legacy.

RIB Boat Adventure

  • Depending on the Disney Magic's docking location, take a short walk or drive to the landing of your exhilarating water-born adventure. Note: This tour may include approximately 0.3 miles walking at a leisurely pace.
  • A RIB boat (Rigid Inflatable Boat) is an extremely stable, seaworthy rubber boat with a solid hull. This type of boat is used worldwide by navies, search and rescue services and police forces for performing rescues under extreme conditions; it is extremely maneuverable and fast.
  • A RIB boat crew member will give you a safety briefing and provide you with a life jacket before boarding the boat. Speeds within Copenhagen harbor are restricted so as you cruise leisurely out of the harbor you will have a chance to enjoy the Copenhagen skyline from the water. Passing the historic Trekroner Island Fortress at the mouth of the port, it's time to open up the throttle and take the boats to their cruising speed of around 65 miles per hour. Note: It is recommended Guests wear rubber-soled shoes, a wind breaker and sunglasses.
  • Enjoy an open-ocean thrill ride as you race around the Øresund, the body of water that separates Denmark and Sweden. Along the way, enjoy views of the massive Øresund Bridge, completed in the year 2000, the Middelgrund and Flakfortet island fortresses from the late 1800s and the vast Middelgrund Windmill Park, large offshore windmills that contribute significantly to Copenhagen's power supply.

  • In 1669, King Frederik III decreed that the forested area then known as "Boveskov" be fenced for use as a royal hunting ground.   • Pass the National Museum and the New Carlsberg Glyptotek Art Museum and see the famous Tivoli Garden amusement park, founded in 1843. Passing by City Hall Square and the Italian-inspired City Hall, you will see the beginning of the mile-long pedestrian street Stroeget, which cuts through the old medieval city. After your sightseeing drive through the city, the bus will take you to the old suburb of Valby and the location of the original Carlsberg brewery.
  • Founded in 1847 by Jacob Christian Jacobsen, Carlsberg Brewery had its humble beginnings here on Valby Hill because of a high-quality water source nearby.   • Leave Copenhagen behind and drive approximately 45 minutes to the ancient town of Roskilde, former capital of Denmark and home of the spectacular Viking Ship Museum. Note: This tour includes approximately 0.5 miles of walking at a steady pace, part of which will be on cobblestones, uneven surfaces and uphill. Wear comfortable shoes.
  • On display at the Museum are 5 original Viking longboats which were sunk over 1,000 years ago to prevent enemy ships from entering Roskilde Fjord. When the Danish National Museum investigated an underwater obstruction suspected of covering the remains of a historic vessel, they found that the barrier dated from the Viking age and actually covered more than one ship. Watch a film in English about the discovery and recovery of these ships in the 1960s.
  • Also enjoy the rest of the museum with many interesting exhibits including a section with life-size mock-ups of ships and replicas of Viking costumes and weapons where you can act out your "inner Viking." Outside the museum you will find an archeology workshop and a Viking boatyard where master craftsmen make replicas of Viking-age wooden boats and longboats using the same materials and techniques as the Vikings. In the museum harbor are many of these replicas, complete with period supplies and equipment. During summer season there are demonstrations of other Viking crafts such as writing in Runes, an ancient alphabet, painting Viking shields or striking coins.

  • Drive north for approximately 50 minutes to the village of Fredensborg and to the "Falkonergården." Here, falconers have taken up the old Danish tradition of training hawks for hunting. Visitors can see displays on the history of falconry and enjoy up-close encounters with falcons, hawks and eagles during a Birds of Prey show.
  • Experience falcons swooping from great heights at a speed of up to 180 miles an hour to grab the lure. Be thrilled by Ferruginous hawks and Stepp eagles that are trained to fly just above the heads of visitors.
  • After the show there will be a short amount of time to ask questions, and shop for souvenirs, literature and pictures.
  • Next, it's time to meet the creatures of the deep as you drive 30 minutes to Denmark's National Aquarium. Founded in 1939, the aquarium has gained international recognition for its marine research programs and public education outreach. The exhibits feature more than 300 species from all over the world in more than 70 aquariums, the largest containing more than 22,000 gallons of water. The Aquarium is divided into marine biospheres. In the cool salt and fresh water sections you will see creatures indigenous to Northern oceans, lakes and waterways. In the warm salt and fresh water sections you will see colorful tropical fish from Southern regions. In the landscape aquariae, the environment above water has been carefully re-created to allow crocodiles, alligators and turtles to thrive. In the children's section of the museum, large touch pools allow an up-close encounter with a chance to touch some of the marine creatures.
  • After your encounter with these creatures of sky and ocean, take the approximate 30-minute ride back to the ship.

  • Board your coach on the pier for a 5-minute drive to the inner Copenhagen Harbor and the 17-century coastal fortress of Kastellet. Standing next to the moats and ramparts of the old fortress you will enjoy a lovely view of the harbor from the island fortress of Trekroner at the harbor mouth and the old naval base of Holmen and all the way to the spectacular Copenhagen Opera House from 2005. This is also where the famous Little Mermaid statue usually sits but as she is on loan to the EXPO 2010 exhibition in Shanghai (China) for most of 2010, an innovative video installation by Chinese artist Ai Weiwei (Bird's Nest Stadium, Beijing) has taken her place temporarily.   • After a 10-minute photo stop, continue your drive around the Churchill Park with the Danish Museum of Resistance 1940-45 and the old St. Albans Church, the only Anglican church in Copenhagen. Make a 10-minute photo stop at the impressive Gefion Fountain that depicts the Norse goddess Gefion commanding a chariot drawn by 4 massive bulls amidst a spray of water.
  • Continue your sightseeing drive into the heart of old Copenhagen. Pass the fairytale-like Rosenborg Castle, located in the King's Garden, now a museum of royal history and memorabilia. At the central City Hall Square, see the mile-long pedestrian street, Stroeget, and the world-famous Tivoli Gardens and its wealth of flowers, restaurants and popular entertainment.
  • Pass the New Carlsberg Glyptotek Art Museum, the National Museum and the Christiansborg Palace, the third royal palace to be constructed on this ancient site and home of the Danish Parliament and the Queen's Reception rooms. Next to the Palace, see the old naval church of Holmens Kirke and the 17th-century Stock Exchange building with its characteristic spire of 4 intertwined dragon tails.
  • Arriving at Amalienborg Palace, the Royal winter residence, disembark the bus for a short stroll along the elegant Palace Square where your guide will tell you more about Danish royal history. Four identical rococo palaces surround the spacious square. One is the residence of Queen Margrethe II, the second is the former residence of the Queen Mother, the third accommodates the Crown Prince and the fourth is used for visiting royals. During this 40-minute stop there will be time for souvenir shopping.
  • On the 15-minute drive back to the ship, see picturesque Nyhavn, with its colorful step-gabled houses that line the old canal.
