Palma Tips

The official languages are Spanish and Catalan. Some useful phrases can be found here.

The currency is the Euro, with major credit cards being accepted in most places. Payments under 10 Euros are normally made with cash.

The best way to get around Palma is on foot, but other forms of transport are available.

Buses run frequently and are a good way to get around. Timetables and fares are available from the Palma de Mallorca bus station on Carrer Eusebio Estada.

Taxis charge per km and are readily available throughout the city.

Pick-pocketing and petty theft can be a problem, and occur in the major tourist areas, in hotel lobbies, in the train and transit stations. Vigilance and common sense are advised - don't carry large amounts of cash, or important documents (passport, etc), keep your wallet in a front pocket, bags across the body at the front, and don't leave cameras or expensive items on show on tables or chairs.
