Be sure to apply plenty of sunscreen, the tradewinds have a cooling effect, with many people not realising how strong the sun really is.

If you rent a car, note that they drive on the left hand side of the road.

Don't leave any valuables unattended on the beach or anywhere else.

While on the street, it is illegal to go shirtless or to wear just a swimsuit. Keep swimwear confined to when you're on the beach, and cover up while on the street or in shops and restaurants.

The most popular and therefore crowded beach on St Thomas is Maagens Bay, with Trunk Bay being most popular on St John.
