SOARIN'

Direct from Disneyland's California Adventure comes The Land's newest attraction, Soarin!
Guests are seated in one of three rows and hoisted high into the air, in front is the giant IMAX screen which encapsulates you into believing you really will see things much as a bird might. Once 'airborne' you'll begin your journey soarin' over California, gliding past many of the golden states most picturesque and iconic locations such as San Fran's Golden Gate Bridge, Hollywood, Palm Springs and even Disneyland!
But that’s not all, a steady breeze, gentle movements and amazingly, scents from some of the places you'll pass by (pine forests, orange groves) all combine to fully create the illusion of flight and immerse the rider into the projected surroundings.

For the scene that takes place at Disneyland park, the film crew had to arrange for a special staging of the Disneyland parade.
Locations Featured in the film include San Francisco, Monterey Coast, Yosemite National Park, Napa Valley, Lake Tahoe, Palm Springs, San Diego, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, Los Angeles, Malibu and Disneyland in Anaheim.
The projection screen dome is some 80 feet in diameter and guests are lifted to a maximum height of 40 feet.
Each ride cycle can accommodate up to 87 riders.
The film projected in the attraction uses IMAX projection systems with high-speed, high-definition Omni-max film projectors.
The ride technology for the Soarin' attraction was based on an erector set model created by Walt Disney Imagineer Mark Sumner. One million pounds of steel provides the ride structure and 37 tons are lifted during each ride cycle.
