Civitavecchia (Rome) Tips

Italian is the official language, and you can find some useful Italian phrases here.

The currency is the Euro. Although credit cards are widely accepted, payments under 10 Euros are normally made with cash.

If service in a restaurant has been good, it's polite to tip 4-5% of your bill. € 0,20-0,30 is the recommended tip amount for taxi rides under € 20.

Shops are usually open from 10am - 1:30pm, then from 4pm - 8pm.

There are a few transport options for guests wanting to visit Rome.
Motor coach transfers are available and the trip takes approximately 90 minutes each way.
Trains into Rome can be boarded at the train station, which is under 1 mile from the ship dock. The main train station in Rome is the Termini, and there is also the Tiburtina station. If you want to visit the Vatican, the nearest train station is Saint Pietro.
Once in Rome you can get around using the metro light-rail network.

Common sense is advised when it comes to safety - don't carry large amounts of cash, or important documents (passport, etc), and be aware that pickpockets may be operating.
