After an approximate 10-minute walk from the ship, receive a water- and wind-proof jacket and trousers, a life vest, hat and goggles for a fast boat ride in the Finnish Archipelago.
Board your special rubber speed boat, built with a fiberglass-reinforced hull and propelled by a powerful engine.
Begin your adventure, heading towards the center of the city, past Embassy Park and Suomenlinna Island Fortress.
After passing the giant Icebreaker fleet, you will head towards the narrow straight "Kustaanmiekka" and then hit full throttle! Experience the scenic Finnish Archipelago at speeds up to 40 knots, traveling over waves and past large and small islands. See Finnish summer homes, some dating back to the 19th century.
After getting a taste of the speed on water, land at one of the islands and enjoy some Finnish-style refreshments, including sausages and potato salad along with a beer or soft drink (Guests must be 21 years of age or older to consume alcohol).
Speeding back to the city, you'll pass the new high-tech center and nearby new residential area, reappearing next to the shipyard and your cruise ship.
After your thrilling experience, walk back to your ship.

Begin with an approximate 15-minute drive passing the shipyard along the coastal road past Embassy Park and the colorful open-air market before making a stop to visit Senate Square with the elegant Lutheran Cathedral. The tour then takes you to visit Sibelius Park where you can photograph the monument of over 600 steel pipes, which honor the great Finnish composer Jean Sibelius.
Make one final photo stop at the unique Temppeliaukio Rock Church blasted into solid rock.

Drive approximately 60 minutes out of Helsinki to the farming community of Sipoo, so close to the city yet very much a typical Finnish countryside. After passing through typical woodland and countryside scenes including picturesque small villages you will arrive in Sipoo where you will have a short stop at the oldest Church in the Community, St. Sigfrid's, dating back to the 15th century. Note: This tour includes approximately 0.4 miles of walking at a leisurely pace, part of which will be on cobblestones, steps and/or uphill. Guests should wear comfortable walking shoes.
Continue to a close by private family home and farm, where the lady of the house will welcome you upon arrival. Enjoy your time here exploring the farmhouse and the garden, as your gracious hosts tell you about life in the countryside. Returning to the city, pass along the colorful open-air market, the Presidential Palace and Uspenski Orthodox Cathedral. See the Icebreaker fleet docked for the summer and also the Bank of Finland and House of Estates.
Stop and visit Senate Square. The entire square and its buildings are from the mid 1800s constructed in neo-classical style.
Continue along Mannerheim Street, the main street of Helsinki. Here you will see the Parliament House, Finlandia Hall, the National Museum, Kiasma and the Olympic Stadium before arriving back at the ship.

Begin your approximate 90-minute cruise through the Helsinki archipelago and enjoy the natural beauty of the beaches, and the impressive wealth of historical sights only a few kilometers from the city center. Pass the Suomenlinna fortification islands, the North harbor where the giant Icebreaker fleet is stationed, the Zoo and other places of interest.

Continue westwards on an approximate 50-minute drive from Helsinki to the secret location of Santa's summerhouse.
Upon arrival you will be greeted by one of Santa's many helpers who will act as your guide during your visit.
Enjoy the beautiful scenery of rural Finland while learning about the Finnish flora and fauna. A nature trail will lead you through the forest up to no ordinary summerhouse.
Here you will meet Santa in person as he invites you into his summer hideaway house.
At his special hideaway Santa Claus also has a real smoke sauna which is a staple of Finnish heritage and habits, and you will learn about the traditions and history of Finnish sauna culture.
Refreshments (coffee, tea, juice or water and a pastry) will be served on the premises before you begin your drive back towards Helsinki.
Arrive back in the city along the coastal road, with its beautiful view of the archipelago, and travel via "Tech Town," the university village in Otaniemi and Tapiola, the "Garden City", both of which were designed by the famous Finnish architect Alvar Aalto.

Helsinki Nordic Walking

Learn Nordic walking, one of the fastest-growing recreational fitness sports in the world! Developed in Finland by off-season cross-country skiers, Nordic walking is fitness walking with specially designed Nordic walker poles that engage the upper body during walking, giving a total-body workout without a change in perceived exertion or speed. Note: This is a very active tour and so participants should be in good health and physical condition.
Your activity guide will meet you directly at the ship. After outfitting you with your Nordic walking poles, your guide will then give you an explanation and demonstration.
Learn about the fundamental techniques involved in Nordic walking followed by some warm-up exercises. Beginning at the pier, your approximately 7-mile led walk (depending on the groups' fitness) will take you into the centre of Helsinki, along mainly dedicated walking paths, past city parks, waterfront districts, residential and commercial areas.
With your activity guide leading the way, you will soon leave behind the industrial pier area and the shipyard. From there, stride past a marina and a residential area before picking up the pace along the scenic, traffic-free waterfront area that leads to Helsinki's main city beach, Hietaranta.
Having caught your breath, from here your guide will lead you through the recreational area of Hesperia Park to the waterfront of Töölö Bay. Stretching out, enjoy a great view of Helsinki's city skyline, as well as seeing close-up, the new Opera House and the decorative wooden villas dating from the 19th century.
You will also see in the distance, Finlandia Hall, the National Museum, the Parliament and the Contemporary Art Museum, Kiasma, as your walk winds down. Enter the downtown area, finally coming to the end of your walk.
The finish line for your Nordic walk will be the downtown shuttle bus stop from where you may return directly to the ship to freshen up, or remain downtown and enjoy more of the city sights, independently, at perhaps, a more leisurely pace. Your guide will return your Nordic walking poles should you decide to remain in the city.

Helsinki, Porvoo and Countryside

Drive approximately 60 minutes along the scenic coastal road to the historic town of Porvoo. Enjoy a guided walking tour of Old Town, with its narrow lanes and wooden houses, the oldest of which dates from the 16th century. You will also have some free time to visit the different small handicraft shops.
From Porvoo, the tour continues on to the Savijärvi Farm. This is a privately owned country home with the manor house dating from 1890. You will receive a personal welcome by the family and get an introduction to the farm and the way of life. The family will then invite you into their home for a three-course meal (included in the price of this tour) with fish as the main course. As well as being a private home, Savijärvi is also a Finnish horse-breeding farm and riding school, and you will have the opportunity to see some of the horses as well.
Saying farewell to the family and the Finnish countryside, return to Helsinki and make a stop at Senate Square. Continue on past the New Opera House, Olympic Stadium, Finlandia Hall, National Museum, Parliament House and the Contemporary Art Museum, Kiasma, opened in 1998 and designed by American architect Steven Holl.
Stop at Rock Church, which is carved into bedrock, before making the final stop of the day at Market Square. Here you will have approximately 40 minutes of free time to explore, perhaps taste the seasonal berries or just take in the atmosphere.

Board the motor coach and begin your tour by driving past the shipyard, Embassy Park, Market Square, Uspenski Orthodox Cathedral and the Presidential Palace. Make a brief stop at Senate Square. Leaving the city, you will drive approximately 45 minutes eastwards to Porvoo.
Lunch (included in the price of this tour) will be served at Haikko Manor House, a leading hotel on the outskirts of Porvoo. You will also have time to wander around and explore the garden.
After lunch, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Porvoo, the second-oldest town in Finland dating back to 1346. Walk the cobblestone streets of this charming old town before enjoying approximately 40 minutes of free time.
Transfer to Hinthaara Station, and along the way, make a photo stop at the Old Bridge of Porvoo, which offers magnificent views of the town.
Your private steam train named "Lili" will be waiting for you at the station to take you on an approximate 40-minute ride. Passing farms and agricultural areas, experience the rural side of Finland as you steam along.
Back onboard your coach, continue to Sipoo Old Church. This church is one of the oldest granite churches in the country. It was built early in the 15th century and the vault paintings are exceptional—most of them depicting symbols of protection.
On your way back to Helsinki, you'll pass the Olympic Stadium and visit the unique Rock Church. This Helsinki landmark is carved of solid rock and topped with a copper dome.
Drive back to the pier.

Continue along the scenic coastal road to Porvoo and enjoy a guided walking tour of the second oldest town in Finland dating back to 1346. You will walk the cobblestone streets of this old wooden town and also stop for photos at the Old Bridge of Porvoo, which offers magnificent views of the town. Enjoy approximately 30 minutes of free time to explore on your own, or perhaps, browse one of the many small handicraft shops.
After a short drive into the countryside, arrive at Kiala Manor, known as the birth place of Albert Edelfelt, one of Finland's most famous artists. The manor itself dates back to medieval times, although the current building and the distillery date from the 1880s when it was owned by Swedish nobles. Lunch (included in the price of this tour) will be served in the Distillery building, with some time to explore the grounds afterwards.
On the way back to Helsinki, stop to visit the Sipoo Old Church. This unique church is one of the oldest granite churches in the country. It was built early in the 15th century and the vault paintings are exceptional—most of them depicting symbols of protection.
Back in Helsinki you will pass the New Opera House, Olympic Stadium, Finlandia Hall, the National Museum, the Parliament House and the Contemporary Art Museum, Kiasma, opened in 1998 and designed by American architect Steven Holl.
You will also make a stop at Sibelius Park where you can photograph the monument of approximately 600 steel pipes which honors the great Finnish composer Jean Sibelius.
Continue to Rock Church, which is carved into bedrock, before making the final stop of the day at Market Square.Here you will have ample time to explore, perhaps taste the seasonal berries or just take in the atmosphere.
Drive back to the pier.
