Dumbo The Flying Elephant

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort guests can join the circus and soar above Fantasyland in the fanciful, flight-themed attraction Dumbo the Flying Elephant.

Based on Disney's 1941 animated motion picture "Dumbo," each of the 16 aerodynamic circus elephants can carry two or three passengers. Guests can make their Dumbo-shaped vehicles go up or down by raising or lowering a lever at the front of each elephant.

Timothy Mouse, another character from the movie, serves as ringmaster. Clutching a feather in his right paw, he directs the flying Dumbos from atop a hot air balloon in the middle of the attraction.

Today, a version of this popular attraction is in every Disneyland-style park around the world.

Tips & Fun Facts

Make your Dumbo vehicle go up and down using the lever at the front.

The original Dumbo attraction, featuring 10 Dumbos, premiered at Disneyland in California in August 1955, one month after the park opened. Early sketches of concepts for the attraction show a circle of pink elephants, like those seen in the "Pink Elephants on Parade" sequence from the film. In time, the elephants were redesigned to look more like Dumbo, in a circus costume with his limbs outstretched, prepared for flight.
At Disneyland in California, Disneyland Paris in France and at Hong Kong Disneyland, Timothy Mouse carries a magic feather. At Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Tokyo Disneyland in Japan, he has a circus whip.
